Wind still blowing from the South, gusting 65mph over the Harbour. Expecting winds to veer more SW'ly here soon.

Since 1993 when I began recording the weather the best level snow here was 14th feb 1994 at 12cm roughly. 1st March 2018 had drifts close to 25cm but whilst 50% of surfaces were close to nil.

Gusting 94mph on the Faroe Islands. The low passed just north of Faroes a couple of hours ago and continues to deepen on it's way to Norway.

had some extreme wins here in the last 40 minutes. I think they must’ve been associated with either a squall line or something as that was really windy. would be interesting to see the gusts for this neck of the wood for the last 40 minutes or so.it’s tied down a little bit, but still really really windy
as I’m typing this, I just heard another intense gust
stay safe out there guys, if anyone has had to venture out
There’s also been a tremendous amount of rain, the last couple of hours as well. I’m wondering if there would be as much as 40 to 50 mm as it was quite intense for a long period of time
Yep, we've had some quite severe wind gusts too in the last hour and a lot of it associated with the heaviest rain.

They are very rare these days. Best one for me which I mentioned this morning was 1994. Oh god, that's 30 years ago!!
Yep that's still probably my favourite too. Sub zero all day, fine snow by the evening and continuing the rest of the night.

I've got quite a few pictures from that winter.
I went for a fishing session at Worbarrow bay on March 1st - that's a place that I fish at every year, for decades. After those storms, I couldn't believe what had happened to it. The beach had lowered by about 10 feet at the cliff edge, because all of the shingle had disappeared.
That image above looks normal, but it's usually like Chesil beach, no sand, just huge levels of shingle.
A huge slice of rock disappeared at the bottom of the 'tout'
One of my favourite places to go to living down here.
Wow that's a lot of power. Its stunning down there.
