Perhaps just a convergence zone storm but its persistence is interesting. Must have dumped a fair amount of convective snow inland
-
@The Tall Weatherman oh you disagree? why not say anything then?
Its still in the same place, producing lighting an hour later. You dont think its a supercell?
-
Supercell near the lake district causing continuous snowfall. Decent amount of lighting off it too - anyone got pics? (socials on radar dont seem to working anymore)
Looks like only the southern half of the lakes are affected currently, but the metoffice have issued an amber warning for the whole area.

Brilliant surprise cells off the backend right now! Low cloud finally lifting and i can see the storms illuminated
-
We're looking for home growns these eve, doesnt matter much what happens in the channel. Looks like the cold front is initiating some showers in the south currently, but not progressing quickly. Things look better later as the pressure falls and position of the jet looks more favourable for divergence

Looks like the forecast has changed - most active storms aren't even in the MetOffice warning area. Arome has renewed CAPE developing in the south/SW from 2pm onwards today, radar looking right for it too. Reckon we could see new storms around the M4 this evening

Looking like a boring day for oxford now

Expecting things will still develop through the haze, dew points in high teens north of the M4. I have a question, though.. why are there no real soundings for today? There should be a 12z in a t least two locations in the UK, its a day of interest

The big suckysucky that's over the middle of the country now is killing of any new growth.
Luckily, as it moves NW, you can see new storms popping up in the far south and south east now.Gonna be fun in a few hours time i think..
The one over SW london, I think will be huge later.my thoughts too. Theres still a lot of unused CAPE in the south were storms haven't formed yet (dews still in high teens). This, coupled with the encroaching sea breezes, will hopefully aid in stronger storm development over the next few hours.
-
Next round of storms will be from south london extending WNW through oxfordshire. I can already hear thunder from the bicester/banbury cells
-
Wow and i wrote today off thinking the pressures too high.. was woken up to really close strike from a storm that seemed to come out of nowhere! I should've checked the forecst skew-Ts, figured CAPE would be llimited by a mid level temperature inversion but clearly that wasn't in place. Reckon this could pretty interesting year
