The cold pool to the East, seems to be more extensive and deeper when comparing 12z with earlier. No idea whether this will mean we get to tap in to it though.

Hmmm, interesting - although the BBC are still showing rain and sleet for tomorrow, the maximum temperature is now showing as 4c, and the temperature actually falls a few hours into the precipitation, before it eventually rises very slowly (still only to a maximum of 3c however) Any chance we could get a surprise tomorrow?
There is a warning for snow posted for tomorrow. So it shouldn't be a surprise to much?

Met Office warning of some snow tonight/tomorrow morning.

Well I am pleased to report that we have had moderate, sometimes heavy snow here for about 1.5 hrs and it still looks heavy and a blanket of grey up there. Over the last 20 minutes or so the wind has got very gusty as well turning it into a good blizzard effect out there at times
Yes very similar conditions here, I suspect soon after it stops for you, it will here.

Coming down pretty heavy here in East Herts, not for much longer granted. But always great to see moderate to occasional heavy snow. Just a shame not hours of it left to go. Hope it is not the last time this winter.

Shame this particular amount of snow falling and wind, couldn't just persist for several hours on end.

I think at 3.30pm temperature was still around 4c, now close to 1c. Not sure how long we will have snow here, but if can get any sort of intensity over a period of hours, may definitely get a few cm's I think,

Well rain for many hours but snow for a few minutes and starting to settle on cars, paths, easily. Should hopefully clear it up for those that think if it rains all day, the snow can'#t settle.

Temp fallen to 2c and where I could hear the rain earlier on skylight, it has either stopped or become wintry.
Edit: It is now snowing and hence the reason for previously hearing the rain and now snow.

Useful to keep an eye on.

Can't be long before Dunstable gets some snow. It appears to be just West of there now. HP23 reporting snow on UK snow map.

Appears to be snowing High Wycombe way?

The sun will set about 4:15pm today, temps already getting lower, so sun going down soon will help further I would think.

Temperature was 6 a couple of hours ago, now around 4 and still a little time before dark and the colder temperatures cut in.

I am pretty sure in recent years the same thing happens before all marginal events. The media forecasts literally cover all options. That way they have every eventuality covered.
That is not a dig at the BBC or indeed similar, it is just a summary. Let's face it, over past few hours we have had BBC say plenty of snow, to just some snow on back edge.

Well I use to post as Hammer, but I forgot my password and then because I had closed the email address I used (hotmail) I couldn't reset. So have had to start a new account. Shame. (If my reputation can be moved across that would be good :-) )
Very interesting setup tonight that seems similar to many over the years. Certainly a good chance of snow in some places. One of them situations where if the professionals aren't totally certain does mean there could be some surprises. However I do accept this might also mean those surprises might be of the negative variety also.
Like others I might spend more time a little later than right now, best get on with some work. Current conditions in my part of East Herts 6c and raining.
