  1. Just said on sky news of a death after a tree fell on a lady's car. Also some Muppets going swimming in the sea too. smh
  2. I really hope them charts comes off. Getting fed with benign rubbish weather. Im not Gona lie, I've been feeling pretty put out that here in the far south and east Kent we are missing all the potential Ophelia action... im still hoping shes going to keeping nudging her way east...
  3. We really need to cos my kids are not happy (or me tbh) with no snow for the last 4 winters! I stupidly told them last autumn "No way we will go a 4th winter without snow, thats never happened before, im sure it will snow this year". I even went and brought a few more sledges to add to the collection! .........And then it was spring again......
  4. It defo was the storm of my lifetime so far (36 years) doubt il get to witness many more of them! It Almost felt apocalyptic! It's been super humid and uncomftable here all day, even with a decent coastal breeze. Some rain would be nice, although rain seems to be the new snow in this area currently. Never seen it so dry.
  5. Im glad to hear silent lightning is actually a "Thing".. I think...It kinda makes me feel a bit better for sleeping through it. Next time I'll stay up and watch the radars! And yes i agree, the end of May storm was really epic! I'm so grateful I got to witness that in person, never seen anything like it. We've still got plenty of summer left yet, plenty more opportunities for everyone :-)
  6. I feel your pain! After seeing a screen gab of lightning strike count over the uk overnight on here this morning it seems there was a substantual amount over my area! So it appears i also missed it while in the land of nod! I also checked the site metcheck to confirm and that has an animation of strikes and also a total strike rate record, and that also showed it moved over my area. So I guessed it must have! I just don't get it! i didn't hear a thing? i dont know what happend! I'm usually a light sleeper! According to a few people in my area we had lightning with no thunder and then some heavy hail. I'm guessing lightening with no sound means it's far away and the light was out traveling the sound? Strange and annoying and I'm pretty gutted missed it, even if it was just a silent light show.
  7. No, apparently not. So annoying. All the action started about 20 miles north of me. :-( Still Atleast you lot got something decent this time.
  8. Good for you! I was at 50%.... We got sod all! Not even a drop of rain that was forecast. Disappointing.
  9. not Gona hold my breath..stupid amount of T&L should of got here and didn't. Actually given me the hump when I've just looked at the live lightening radar and i see all that potential dumped in the sea, no good to anyone there...and as is usual france gets most of the decent fun weather. what a complete anticlimax today.
  10. Typical eh, all that storm activity stalled 20 ish miles from me. Honestly, very annoying.
  11. yeap bone dry here, don't see it raining any time soon either. BBC forecast WAY off.
  12. Got nothing here yesterday, all too far north of me.., was a nice day though, intermittent sun, warm n hazy on the coast. Got some nice pics of my view across the Channel, East to West. Taken on my phone so not great quality but really nice clouds formations over a very calm sea.
  13. see my reply to lassie23 above, i totally agree, the storm a few days back was the first decent one in a long time. And as for snow, we must have a really good snow shield cos haven't seen any since 2012! rain seems to be going the same way too!
  14. Awww your poor Auntie! Wish we would get some extreme weather here more often! Im pretty new to weather watching so can only say from what i've noticed over the last year, and i have no idea of the mechanisms involved but the electric storms in France just don't seem to make it over the water. Its seems to be the same with heavy rain too, just dies out before it gets here, thats whether its coming from Europe or from the west from the Atlantic, since last summer its been really really boring weather here, just meh and super dry, cant remember such a dry period, costing a fortune to water my garden! I love all extreme weather tbh, As for my name, we haven't had any snow here since 2012, hence my obsession with snow stalking! better get some this year!
  15. Whoops..the stormy weather possible Friday not Thursday in South East. Sorry
  16. BBC showing thunder storms possible for us in the far south and east tomorrow evening, hope they make it across the channel again! Was truly epic on the 29th, never seen lightning anything like it in all my 36 years! I was going to walk ove the beach that night but I bottle it.. Being female and on my own with only 5% battery at 1am in the morning I didn't want to chance it. Feel Gutted I didn't just go over the beach looking back at how epic it must have looked without the visual obstructions blocking my view of the horizon.. Was still awesome from my front door step but bet it was mega watching it unobscured all the way across channel . Apparently was 190000 strike rate in a 72hr period! And was the largest storm on the planet at that moment in time! Just amazing.
  17. To be fair the massive storm we had here a few days back was the first one since 2014! Very often northern France less than 25 miles across the water from me here has super epic storms nearly weekly (daily lately) this time of year and we don't even see a pep. So I do feel your pain!
  18. Well its humid and still and a bit overcast here in South East Kent today. Intermittent sunshine. I've ust seen on BBC weather it looks like we could be seeing some more stormy weather again tomorrow evening. Looks likely to be very far east and may not even make it over the channel but its worth keeping an eye on for sure.
  19. I have just come across this on my fb feed. By far the best footage I have seen of last night's storm here in South East kent, they had an excellent elevated position at the top of folkestone by the look of it. Just amazing and beautiful. Credit to Mike Paul Hull. https://m.facebook.com/groups/781610218635613?view=permalink&id=1134100610053237
  20. Can't figure out how to edit my post. Ment to say wasn't ment to be so far EAST not south.
  21. Had an excellent storm here last night. Lightening in the distance from about 11.20pm, sat outside watching it come in until rain got too heavy at about 1am. Was an excellent show, from about 1.30am to 2.30am was constant strobe lightening and fork lightening and deep cracking rumbles that made the house vibrate! Few even made me jump! According to all the weather reports it wasn't ment to make it as far south and was ment to be more west and north of me but i am really glad it did end up here cos thats the first decent storm we've have had since the big one back in 2014 with the big shelf cloud. Really was amazing, feel very lucky to have caught it
  22. It was crazy here never seen lightening like it, it was like a strobe light outisde my windows! It was hitting 245 hits per minutes for a good 45 minutes according to the live lightening radar..
