We will see plenty of snow showers in Wales this week, Im expecting a few surprises everywhere with the nature of this northerly flow. Don't be fooled even in Eastern Wales, Northerlies often produce larger snow totals than easterlies when you get troughs and occluded fronts appearing within 12 hour time frames.
Being on these foruns for nearly 18 years, the overreacting in the mod thread is nothing new but the standard of discussion this year is atrocious. The cold spell won't break down on Friday, it's not a toppler and the models will be very volatile between now and then. Expect drastic changes at short time frames that can extend the cold substantially!
And to remind us all we've had well over a week now of below average temperatures, only yesterday did we reach our highest temperature of the week at 4°c. Ditches, ground and pond frozen solid since last Saturday. Any snow should readily settle next week.

Absolutely! I've seen rain forecast when we've got a good bit of snow instead , we have a different system over these hills.
Fingers crossed for a flurry or two!

I'm staying away from the mad thread , it's ridiculously childish . The models are all over the place also , you'd think with all of today's technology it would be giving out accurate reports!
Think we need to go back to early 80s style forecasting with the magnetic symbols
.
Anyway let's just see at least it's cold , hopefully we'll get the snow next week , Wales has a different system , we get rain even when it's not forecast

It's definitely a rollercoaster in the crazy thread ! Why can't people just enjoy the current cold weather ? Surely the saying get the cold in first ?
Cold and dry has to be better than the lashing rain of the last month ?

I was born late in November , we've always had the first snow around this time . I can remember a few snow events here in late November especially around my birthday, not a significant spell however there was disruption to some extent each time .

This summer has been horrendous
it's like spring / autumn weather .

Looking good guys , I work in Brecon so the commute weds and Thurs may not be possible !
Also can we be nice , some will have a lot more snow than others due to their location so need to prepare! I've just sent the hubby for the usual bread , milk and potato run
maybe it's time to get excited!
Ps I've seen rain forecast many of times that have turned into whiteout snow days transport and schools closed etc !
The valleys are a different kettle of fish

I've recently had issues with my car sensors , abs warning lights the works ! Common occurrence with BMW

Met office aren't reliable at all , the temps they forecast are all wrong , it's a lot colder here than they are forecasting.
It was supposed to be 11 degrees forecast yesterday, it was 6 degrees here
They'll send a warning once it snows lol .

Just stay away from the mad lot guys , same every year with them !
We have our own weather system here in Wales especially the valleys and hills , a lot on the mad thread probably haven't seen decent snow since 2010 , whilst we are fortunate to have had a few events in-between such as 2013 , 2017 and 2018 so fingers crossed for this winter .

Mad thread is crazy of late !
Anyway we have previously been forecast rain in previous years which turned to a snow fest , especially here on the foot of the Beacons !
I think we'll definitely see more in the way of a proper Winter .

Well that was a exciting commute home from Brecon , this was just below penyfan , there was a traffic standstill just ahead so stopped to get a snap !
Rear wheel BMW is rubbish in blizzard conditions, however this is the first proper wintery weather I've encountered over the Beacons down into Brecon this winter. I drive over and back 3 times during the week .
