  1. And once again, the weather does the exact opposite of what was forecast. A very nice day for just 993mb air pressure.
  2. Yet another day that was forecast to be a washout. But it's actually been dry so far today and the sun is out. Seems as if the weather can't make its mind up at the moment. I'm certainly not complaining though.
  3. Apart from the Easter weekend, it looks as if the mostly unsettled theme will be continuing for the foreseeable I'm afraid.
  4. raz.org.rain Whatever they predict, you can expect the exact opposite to happen.
  5. damianslaw I have a feeling that this is how spring 2024 will turn out.
  6. March is commonly described as " In like a lion and out like a lamb". But this year it has been the other way round.
  7. We had many kinds of weather types today - wind, rain, hail and right now it is sunny.
  8. Yes, things did start to improve from late July onwards and felt quite pleasant at times, but it isn't saying much.
  9. I was expecting today to be a washout, but it has so far been dry with sunny spells. Feeling quite pleasant too.
  10. Maz Yes, and another way of looking at it is that it's only up until the solstice (winter or summer) then things gradually start improving after that (whether it is darkness or lightness you are looking forward to). Personally I enjoy both long light summer evenings and long cosy winter evenings in equal measure. What would actually be ideal for me would be somewhere where the day and night hours are of equal length all year round. I believe Singapore is like that.
  11. Today is a fairly typical early spring day with a mixture of sunshine and showers including hailshowers. Quite a good day for interesting weather.
  12. Ridiculous that it was 4 years ago.
  13. During the heatwave last September I had no protection yet received nothing more than just a slight tan. Had it been during July with no protection then I would have been burnt to a crisp. Just shows that it's all about the sun's strength rather than temperature.
  14. *Stormforce~beka* You can never be too careful. Wold Topper Hoping we have a July 2018 redux, particularly after last year's horror.
  15. In terms of temps and rainfall it hasn't been too bad of a March so far for this neck of the woods and has actually been quite pleasant for much of the time. My only gripe really is that there hasn't been a lot of sun. Though when the sun is out, the warmth is now so noticeable that you'd do OK with a spring jacket. Time to start digging out the sunscreen now I think.
  16. *Stormforce~beka* Yes, our climate is getting more boring it seems. Weeks on end of the same thing is commonplace nowadays.
  17. damianslaw Yes, it's a continuation of what we have endured over the last few months. I would have liked to have had a last minute wintry spell earlier this month and now I am looking forward to some spring warmth. Had enough of rain. *Stormforce~beka* We are long overdue a white Chrstimas. Can't remember the last one.
  18. So uncanny how the best of the weather conincided with the lockdown. From the beginning to the end of the lockdown the weather was warm and sunny. Before the lockdown as well as once lockdown restrictions started easing in early June the weather began taking a turn for the worse. It's as if our climate was deliberately trolling us. This was frustrating and I personally would have preferred to have spring 2020 synoptics during the summer when restrictions had been lifted, so we could all have enjoyed it more.
  19. Saw my first bumblebee of the year this afternoon.
  20. cheeky_monkey I was meant to say that only the first half of that summer was horrific. Perhaps it wasn't worded well, but too late to edit now.
  21. This will likely be unpopular but I am going to say summer 2012. As horrific as that summer was, only the first half was exceptionally so, with a huge improvement from around the time the schools broke up. I remember a very welcome hot and sunny spell in late July, then an unsettled blip and finally a pleasant enough August. And whilst not technically summer I will mention it anyway seeing as some people consider it to be an extension of summer, early September that year was nice also. I can also recall a thunderstorm event at the end of June which did add some interest. Still a poor summer, but 2007 was worse.
  22. Spring 2012 started off well with a nice March, but the season went downhill once April arrived, with the month being poor throughout with the odd nice day here and there. May was poor up until around the 22nd which gave us a warm sunny spell.
