  1. The slug on my wheelie bin the other day would do a better job at running the country than any of those in the main parties.
  2. It would be suitable for late September, but certainly not early August. We have even had warmer and sunnier days in February.
  3. I like snow, but I do appreciate that it can be very problematic for certain professions. The UK doesn't have all the necessary infrastructure to cope with extremes on either end.
  4. I enjoy the heat, but I also understand how frustrating our current climate can be if you want a middle ground. During summer it is either heat or washout with very little of something in between. I think everybody would be happy with 23°C, plenty of sunshine and a gentle breeze.
  5. If anything, more or less every winter nowadays could be considered as being 'heatwaves' as almost always they are milder than average. We are certainly long overdue a proper cold Christmas and even more so a cold February.
  6. Still no rain over here. In fact, the sun is out.
  7. A very memorable summer for me as that is when I left primary school. I remember falling asleep in my back garden on a hot summer's evening that year. I also remember having a day out at Drayton Manor that summer and getting soaked on the Stormforce 10. Ah memories.
  8. Actually hasn't been a bad morning here and certainly no where near as bad as what was forecast, despite there being an air pressure of 985mb. But it's still early in the day yet I guess, so time will tell.
  9. Spring was very disappointing this year. It took ages to get going.
  10. Seems to be somewhat of an unpopular preference on here, but I'm not a fan of warm autumns personally. I want the warmth to be in summer when the days are long and nature is at its best. I like seasons to be seasonal. I wouldn't want a cold spring either.
  11. Yes, that's the only thing that was missing that year. Got to be more trustworthy than Boris Johnson, surely? Though it wouldn't be saying much.
  12. If it wasn't for family and finances, I'd be living in a climate with guaranteed summers and winters. The year 2018 felt kind of continental as it had the BFTE as well as a classic summer. But that was purely luck.
  13. I envy that you get snow. Hard to come by over here. Even a frost is hard to come by in some years.
  14. I am a lover of both the cold and the heat, but at the right times of the year. I wouldn't want a warm October in the same way I wouldn't want a cold April. But I do think we are long overdue a cold February in the same way we were long overdue a hot August, which we finally had last year, and another one would be nice too though is looking unlikely. As a lover of all seasons, this forum with the coldies vs the sun worshippers does make for a great read at times. I don't agree with guiltripping though.
  15. I am thinking about writing this summer off for another year now, seeing as the first 10 or so days of August are looking more or less the same as what we've been having throughout July. By the time we get to mid August, we lose that high summer feeling and as a result my desire to chase heat slowly starts to wane, though doesn't wane completely until around the autumnal equinox.
  16. Even July 2012 managed a warm sunny spell later in the month. This July for me is equally as bad as July 2007, albeit without the floods.
  17. You should get yourself some blackout curtains, if you don't have any already. A great idea for people with reverse SAD.
  18. It always seems to drag on a bit for me at this time of the year. Whereas from mid August time whizzes by and it will be Christmas again before we know it.
  19. Saw the first rowan tree of the year today. Seems a little early this year as I don't normally start seeing them until around mid August.
  20. I think August will be nothing to write home about, but will still be far better than this month. I can see it having a CET and sunshine around average with rainfall a little below average. Pretty much a very average summer month.
