About 1.30 I was driving from Rawtenstall to Bacup when the most incredible hail storm hit. Roads were awful like driving on ball bearings. Lasted about 15 minutes.

Well that was a shock. Went swimming in Rawtenstall to be greated by total white out. Roads treacherous and covered. Temp has dropped as has Dew point and showing gusts of 15 mph which is high for my station.

I didn’t bother to post earlier and fell back to sleep!

we started with fine dry snow which covered everything but this then turned to larger flakes and things began to melt. This continued on and off with very little additional coverage.
Just took the dog out and it’s all changed. Heavy settling snow and a blizzard blowing from the east which is the worse for my field as no shelter. Me and dog retreated back inside- her leading the way. Cars all covered again cobbles struggling but trees all white. Temp now below freezing and dew point below that and while looking at weather station it dropped again !

it’s absolutely vile outside. Still loads of icy snow under foot. Now to add to it it’s chucking it down and blowing a Hooley. What’s tomorrow going to be like!!!

Frozen in here. Steep drive frozen as we had no grit yesterday so we are all grounded unless the sun gets to work!

Arrived home about 3 pm thought i would take a photo of these clouds.

Just caught my eye i cannot say why.

My neighbour was waiting for something to descend from them he was practicing greetings to alien forces.

Gets a little strange round here at times.

I hope the photos explain if not i will pop back the next time after improving my photo-taking skills.

the main area with the bright echoes seems to have stopped at the town centre and is refusing to head any further east although if it’s rain, it can stop there.

Snowing at Spring Mount. Flakes increasing in size all the time
