Can’t sleep so just popped outside briefly, can’t see much but feels like sleet so I guess we’re in the transition.
Let’s see how things look when I wake up

So what have people been up to to try and budge the time along? I’ve been watching some Family guy and being as far away from the clock as possible haha
I’ve spent the afternoon watching the Six Nations and as such am now thoroughly depressed.
Not sure what to do for the next 5-6 hours though...

This is the best snow potential in my area for years, possibly since the 2018 Beast. And yet I’ve still got a terrible feeling that it’s going to go spectacularly wrong...
Let’s hope I’m the one that’s wrong

Latest from the bbc... darcy has the ‘potential’ to clip the far SE corner.
if this goes tits up, I truly give up.
I think we’ll be ok
At least I darn well hope so...

Morning all, been a big fan of the site for many a year so decided to join up for the party! Fingers crossed for all those fellow coldies out there.
My attention is drawn to Monday’s front that has appeared this morning/last night, could be a lovely top up on top of tomorrow’s falls. The North Sea will be a breeding ground for clumps of pink on the radar.
Southend, Benfleet, Rayleigh etc look perfect at this stage.Welcome fellow Benfleetian!

I dont think some realise just how close we are now to a Red Alert, just 1 tick away on the Matrix now
Red Alerts tend to be Issued as the event is happening or things are so firmed up just before the event is started.
Some Instances of this over the years were the very first ever one in South Devon when it was apparant things were much worse than expected and loss of life was possible, or a few hours before the event like the Snow event in 2009.
I know its a Sunday and Lockdown but if Blizzard conditions are accompanying snow there really will not be any visibility on the roads and hence a danger to life if travelling.
Yellow Warnings now extended to Wednesday as well.
I know some will mock this post as over exagerating but we are very close to the top upgrade now, there is a big difference to 50cm of Snow on a Scottish Mountain and Blizzards in heavily populated areas with lots of road traffic. Hence why its hard to get a Red Alert on Scottish Mountains
How much snow do you think we might get round here Paul?

Must say I’m really getting excited about what the next few days might have to offer
Which knowing my luck means it will go catastrophically wrong and we’ll get a week of rain...

Just had a rumble from the apocalyptic skies approaching from the West

Just had a rumble of thunder, wasn’t expecting that at all!

Strange weather here in Southend.
The radar shows heavy rain over Southend yet in my part of the town - Southend - Shoebury, there isn't any rain falling at all. I wonder if the stiff easterly wind is keeping it away.
We’ve got very heavy rain here in Benfleet and last time I checked the clouds overhead were moving due North...

Just had heavy rain come up out of nowhere, no thunder though

Oooh was that a very distant rumble?

Yeah I think it’s died. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted

Having said that it’s gone very quiet all of a sudden...

Haven’t seen any lightning yet but the thunder sounds pretty close so I guess it must be quite elevated
-
The Cone of Silence has officially fallen, and the guy who was cleaning the windows of the house across the road has retreated to his van rather hastily!

Definitely thunder, looking at the radar.
Yeah it is, pretty frequent too. Seemed to come out of pretty much nowhere

Hearing something, not sure if it’s wind or thunder...
Just checked lightningmaps, it’s thunder!

Think I’m the wrong side of the London cell to see any distant lightning annoyingly. There was also something trying to build behind it earlier but that seems to have collapsed now

Lot of conflicting info flying around on here right now...
So what actually is happening with the snow? Is it late? Is it going to be less than expected? Is it not coming at all?
Anyone?
