  1. I came across this video a couple of hours back: It's not only Climate Scientists who are routinely assailed by idiots, anti-science is fast becoming a modern-day curse.
  2. 78/79 Meanwhile I'm drinking cocktails with Elvis and JFK!
  3. raz.org.rain I used to think he was a tosseur, now I know he's a tosseur!
  4. Tom Quintavalle One must always follow the Gbeebies for an insane insight into the weather. . . And, for anything else! And Rees-Mogg might lose his seat at the next GE, when the boundary changes come into effect!!
  5. stratty Yes, I think they are, but I never get there quick enough!
  6. This week's Deep Dive hints at a possible cold spell following the expected SSW. How cold? Well, that's still up in the air, so to speak:
  7. Weather Enthusiast91 So are mild Septembers: we are, after all, in a run of successive warm years, globally, and that's got to be more to-the-point than a thirty-day stretch that we humans have chosen to call September?
  8. North-Easterly Blast But it's not even a theory, it's like tossing a coin ten times and being amazed when you don't get five heads and five tails. . .
  9. raz.org.rain It's looking like things could quite balmy as next weekend come along:
  10. North-Easterly Blast Well, I'm yet to see any evidence (compelling or otherwise) that warm Septembers cause mild winters. . . If it were that simple, the UK Met. Office would be on it like a flash?
  11. Chasbrown But they are better than they were in the 1970s. . . Onwards and upwards?
  12. swfc But then, maybe they don't throw their toys out of the pram at each and every, less than perfect, GFS model run?
  13. matty40s As Lynda Hamilton famously said: There's a storm coming. . .
  14. Tamara IMO, it's such a shame that all some peeps want to do is blame someone else. . . It's obvious that, despite the veracity of teleconnections, other confounding variables are at play here: our climate is being put under increasing pressure by GHG emissions, so is getting ever more difficult to predict? I am not about to 'shoot the messenger'!
  15. Well, I got precisely what the Met. Office predicted -- an hour or two's sleet and torrential rain.
  16. SunnyG What about the Devonshire farmers who lost lots of sheep during the January 1968 blizzard, eh? Warnings are precautionary, that's all; they are not guarantees of x-cm of snow in anyone's back garden!
