  1. Blackpool 8-15 am - 8C heavy showers. Went out early this morning 7-30 wearing my new winter waterproofs. Good job i did as the heavens opened shortly afterwards with rain of biblical, no monsoon proportions. Bad enough Saturday evening in the winds when driving along in a Northerly direction i was approached by a rubbish bin travelling in an Easterly direction at an approx speed of 30 mph. Due to an unusual ninja-like reaction by the bin a collision was avoided. I seem to be watching clouds lately so arriving home this morning i took a couple of pictures of these clouds shortly after the shower passed. Have a nice day as they say, be careful out there. Over and out till the next time.
  2. Good heavens. Thanks for letting me know what they were called.I am quite pleased that a tornado did not appear it was bad enough being caught in a dust devil a few years ago. I believe a tornado hit a part of Ireland today. I have just been watching Coutryfiles 5-day weather forecast and they opened with a picture of these clouds taken a few miles down the road in Fleetwood. I missed what he said about them it was a little noisy in the house at the time. But thanks for the info, I thought the clouds were a little strange-looking. Thanks again for the info. Take care out there times are changing, as the oceans warm goodness knows what may head our way in the future. Will Tornadoes become more common in Great Britain? I have to admit I am not knowledgeable on such things just wondering. Feel I will keep my camera near me this winter, seen many strange things in the sky and cloud formations when walking the shoreline which i do most days.
  3. Blackpool-Temp about 8 degrees been down the prom a few times today plenty of people are about. Not like yesterday when everything was blowing about. Arrived home about 3 pm thought i would take a photo of these clouds. Just caught my eye i cannot say why. My neighbour was waiting for something to descend from them he was practicing greetings to alien forces. Gets a little strange round here at times. I hope the photos explain if not i will pop back the next time after improving my photo-taking skills. Bye,may the force be with you all.
  4. Plenty of showers to start the day. Looking at the radar it looks like the rain is clearing away. Air show in a hour and a half kicks off with the Red Arrows. At the moment about half a mile away from the beach watching the football then down to the beach i go. An enjoyable day so far. Temp 18c wind about 20mph. Expecting an increase in temperature as the sun hopefully breaks through shortly and the cloud clears away.
  5. Last night 3 am the noisiest thunderclap i have ever heard. Followed by lightning and thunder a little further away. After i picked myself up from the floor i quickly headed to Netweather to check the radar. It showed the shower had moved in from the Southwest gaining power and was passing by pretty quickly.Strange that the lightning strikes had not shown up on the lightning sites i checked at the time. The first clap of thunder i believe will go down in legend in these parts.I have been told half the town took to social media to discuss what was happening. The other half are still shaking and unable to communicate yet. Weather at the moment rain temp 14c Have a nice day as they say, if not rumours are building of a sunny day next Thursday the 10th.
  6. 1 flash of lightning and rumbles of thunder. The heaviest rain seems to have passed by but still raining. Seems livelier slightly to the North and East at the moment. Those showers coming out of Wales do seem to be gaining a little power as others have said, Temp down to 19 degrees Maybe those a little farther East will get some of the action soon. It's not over yet, hopefully.
  7. Rain getting heavier. 1st lightning strike and thunder. All beginning to kick off now.
  8. Just watching the storms moving up from Wales. Lightning strikes in Irish Sea west of Fornby. Looks like Liverpool is next possibly. Waiting patiently.
  9. Temperature now 25 degrees on the Costa Del Fylde. Winds South East 14 mph Less cloud than earlier in the day. Will be watching the weather radar and lightning detector closely early tomorrow morning for any potential storm activity.
  10. Temperature 24 degrees wind 14mph from South West.A few clouds about. Planning a car boot tomorrow but maybe i had better wait for the rough times of any storms that may occur tomorrow morning. Nothing worse than paying then the heavens open. Once i was just in full selling mode when a dust devil arrived on the aisle i was in. Bags many things flew a hundred or so feet into the air. Even my cap spun round three times on my head before taking off and landed on someone elses stall. Can you belive such a thing. I had to retrieve it sharpish before it got sold. Just a quick tale while i wait for updates on any possible storms.
  11. Light rain shower has now passed by in Blackpool temperature around 18c. Will this shower reach the Lake District is the question, seems to be heading that way.Or will it fade away. Will Windermere see this rare event? Perhaps dampen the ground. Sounds parched up there in the mountains, hills, lakes, valleys, villages, and hamlets. Will damianslaw be celebrating soon. Ah well better pop off now,one thing is for sure it will be much easier working in the garden today with the lower temperature at the moment Take care out there.
  12. Nice snow shower fresh from the Irish Sea leaving a slight covering on road car grass North Blackpool Bispham area.
  13. Blackpool. And the snow is over. The sun is out and the sky is blue. And i am not sure what to do. The sun feels warm, so warm i thought my shed was on fire and shot out as it was steaming so much. As are all my fences. We now seem to be facing the fastest thaw on record. So it is over,i shall now retreat back into the shadows. Till the next time, it has been a pleasure popping in here today. Bye for now. Blowing Sand.
  14. Blackpool. I expect the snow will stop soon here on the coast. It took about 5 minutes of these heavy huge snowflakes to cover the paths and roads again. Best wishes to those who have not seen much today i usually look at some of your posts over the years with envy. Latest it is absolutely blasting it down ,the heaviest today. Very unusual. No doubt it will soon be over. But making the most of it while it lasts. Just popping out with snow shovel to clear the path. I hope when i open the front door an avalanche from the roof does not bury me. I will report back as soon as the snow stops, surely this cannot continue much longer. Over and out from a snowy Fylde Coast.
  15. Blackpool. Snow been lighter just moved into a much heavier pulse with bigger flakes once again. Roads and pavements gone a little slushy. Roofs and grass still holding this rare treat. Are the slushy pavements and roads about to be refreshed. The tale continues.
  16. Well can you believe it. One minute everywhere is wet through. People saying it will not stick to that. Then someone turned the snow machine up producing these magnificent sized snowflakes . Now sticking to everything. Heavy. Nice to see. Over and out for now.
  17. Hi.Another record goes as others have said- 210 mm that is over 8 inches of rain i believe-good heavens in 24 hours. Just checked out Cumbria. A mountain pass in the Lake District has broken the UK record for June rainfall. Figures release by the Met Office today (June 29) show 210mm of rainfall was recorded in just 24 hours between 10am Sunday (June 28) until 10am today (June 29). 'Record' rainfall for June on Cumbrian mountain pass - LancsLive WWW.LANCS.LIVE The amount is double the June national average and also the highest 24hr rainfall total recorded since Oct 2017. Anyone live near the rivers of the North West how are they doing with all this rain.Have they risen a touch. Just popped down to the Shoreline around the Cleveleys area for a touch of fresh air which i received full blast off the Irish Sea straight down the windpipe at about 35 mph. Fully refreshed in about ten seconds. And a touch sandblasted into the bargain. Weather- Very cloudy but a few breaks appearing.Still a little windy. Best go now i can go on a touch-Cumbria brought back memories of a short spell living and working in Millom many moons ago in a tannery which was situated there.Hard work, popped upto the office as i remember after a couple of weeks and said any office jobs.Reply came no lad no jobs up here, well not till you lose a finger or two. Bye
  18. Good morning. Monday morning on the Lancashire coastline. Wet and windy.I was going to go for an early morning walk on the shoreline but have abandoned that idea. Going back into hibernation for a day or so till this fearsome weather clears. Well i hope it only takes a day or so can you imagine this kind of weather lasting longer. I have heard or read somewhere that in the far distant future around July the 4th another spell of much warmer weather is to arrive. Just in time for the pubs etc to open again, what a delight that will be.To be able to have a nice cool glass of the amber necter. Anyone else planning for this historic event. Ah well enough of that what is the weather doing in your neck of the woods.
  19. Perhaps i am watching the weather radar a little too much.Turned animation on lighter colours indicating lighter rain seems to be moving East across the Pennines but the heavier rain seems to be stuck not wanting to move across to the East.Of course i may need to go and lie in a darkened room for a while which is not difficult as it is a dismal dark evening. But a raging wind blowing yet the heavier rain bearing clouds seem to want to stay put.Is there a wise one who can explain this or am i seeing things.
  20. Good morning. Heavy sleet. Looking at the Lampost light you can see the flakes. Close, just a little colder and it would have been very interesting. I wonder what places with a little elevation are seeing such as the Lakes,Pennine areas. 4-48AM Reporting from the coast. Over and out.
  21. Dry the moon is out the sky is a few clouds and blue sky.Fylde protection shield is up. As it was yesterday. Just popped off down to the Shoreline earlier about 7 am as i thought that i heard a weather forecast yesterday saying the winds were going to calm down today. No,still blowing hard, flooded parts, pebbles and rubble thrown everywhere by the storms.Had to make a few diversions. Enjoying the photos and posts being made. Bye for now, over and out, take care out there.
  22. Very windy here. Not the best at putting links on but i will give it a go. You can see this Blackpool webcam showing the shower clouds in the Irish Sea. Over 9 metre tide at 1230 so waves could be interesting. https://www.skylinewebcams.com/en/webcam/united-kingdom/england/blackpool/blackpool.html
  23. Watching the weather radar showing some showers heading out of Ireland and waiing for the showers to arrive. Only for the showers to vanish near the Isle Of Man then appear magically again just near Preston . There are dark forces at work this is clear. A super shield in the Irish Sea that something has control of. You can have one hell of a wind today on the Fylde Coast but showers are kept for those chosen ones. You are not worthy. What do we do to become worthy of a snow shower or two. Is this to much to ask.Watching these vanishing showers is unbearable after a day or two. Off to lie in a darkened room for an hour or two .
  24. Good morning from a wild and windy Blackpool. Well what will today bring after yesterday. I see on the weather radar showers have turned wintry.Hail,Sleet,Snow and perhaps a few lightning strikes although they seem to be over Ireland at the moment.Ooops not quite correct i see Scotland seems to be joining in the lightning show now. A really high tide here just before midday over 9 metres with possibly some giant waves. The stage is set perhaps for some more surprises.
