  1. We've taken over the north-west regional thread. Perhaps they should rename it?
  2. Properly coming down now, this feels far more like a normal if very prolonged storm. Enjoying it, some proper thunder and lightening but last night was something else here, very little rain relatively but energy wise amazing.
  3. Near constant thunder and lightening every few seconds here along with torrential rain.
  4. Got caught in it just north of Crewe about 1pm. Really big flakes for about half an hour. Finally I've seen some snow this winter.
  5. OK it's just arrived here, time to step outside.
  6. Not a day to be a pilot or passenger! Hopefully everyone arrives safe and sound. Nothing is landing at Manchester now. The runway is still open but they're stacking them temporarily. That TUI 787 aborted. Heathrow, Gatwick and surrounding airports will be very difficult this afternoon.
  7. Just watched that, a TUI 787 aborted very early, it's a challenge to land in these sort of conditions. As you say Manchester's runway's are almost perfectly aligned for the storm so they're coming into a strong headwind. Obviously that doesn't offset the not inconsiderable gusts of wind that can catch them out.
  8. Big fan of lamp post shots, we need to make it a regular thing here.
  9. Yep, great, I woke up this morning not expecting more than slight covering outside. It's been a long time since I've seen this in Northwich.
  10. Light snow here now, it's been a wintry mix for the last hour with large, wet flakes. Seems to be snow now if very light.
  11. They seem to be pinning everything on the ECM and discarding everything else?
  12. Well let's hope the weather delivers this week a bit better than Silva is managing at the moment.
  13. Yep they're over analysing Day 10 outputs which are chopping and changing on a regular basis as they hope for something truly outstanding weather wise. Seems like a pretty typical westerly dominated winter with a few colder/snowy interludes to me? The SSW not really manifesting itself yet has done for many in there.
  14. Yep we seem to be neatly sat between any of the bands of precipitation here in Northwich. Hope it will pick up later?
  15. Has to be close to the snowiest place in England? Surprised it doesn't snow all year round! Lovely town as well, I'd be very tempted to relocate!
  16. I know but we also know, straws and clutching, which I am. It's the hope that kills us!
  17. Officially getting excited now, I'm a few miles up the road and getting a similar forecast. Snow hat at the ready!
  18. Looks like a slight upgrade from the Meto for the west of the region this morning for Mon/Tues. At what point can we expect to see a significant upgrade? Tomorrow? I see disappointment all round in the MOD thread with the ECM not playing ball again. I've never viewed easterly's as delivering the goods for much of our region away from the eastern side anyway?
  19. Agreed, it appears we're heading for a colder period and there will probably be some snowy interludes, although even with my limited understanding it still all looks rather messy at the moment.
  20. Genuinely saddened and shocked. She'll be sadly missed, the next cold outbreak won't be the same. Deepest sympathy to her family and friends. 51 is far too young.
