  1. That's potential avalanche Snow depths in the Highlands. Good grief!
  2. Started Snowing lightly here again. Feel bad for others who have had rain/sleet, this winter has been the 'Nearly' winter for the SE, but for Herts today has been wonderful. Hoping for a few more hours before it moves away south.
  3. Showers packing in from the SW on radar. I wonder if they'll merge with pivot band lol. Wishful thinking! Snow was just beautiful earlier. Currently have light snow falling, with some melt.
  4. Errrrr WOW! BIG THICK £2 COIN size flakes. Oh how I've waited for this. My cats are so excited playing in it, I can here dogs barking in excitement. Snow is so very special. 20210124_111646.mp4
  5. Sleet here Hatfield. Started as Snow for about a hour with a icing sugar shake dusting.
  6. 2c and a dollop of rain coming So frustrating this spell. Just 1c away from Snow, but who knows?
  7. Overnight Thursday in to early Friday, Snow is due to cross the SE from the North. The temps will easily support it at around 0c to -2c. You'll have to get up early to see it or you'll miss it though. Mind you with our luck lately, it will fizzle out before it even gets here.
  8. Well, all the ups & downs are most certainly a theme right now. Can't say I blame people for reacting negatively and for the most part, positively with what they are seeing chart wise. I've sort of come to the conclusion that the BBC always seem to, in the end, get it right. And whilst us amateurs try to muddle through what all these different charts are saying to us, we piece it all up and come to our conclusions based on what it is saying. For me the charts just keep sending us down the garden path whilst the Met/BBC have a super computer with different information above what watered down version we get information from. It certainly seems that way to me. Whilst the hype, the hope and 'Boom' charts appear, the media are homing in on money making hyped reports on Blizzards and 25" snow drifts and the 'Beast from the east' nonsense. I'm actually really drained from all this lol, I am a sad loser when it comes to snow. I'm 43 and I love snow as much as I did as a kid. I actually talk to myself when it snows lol. Bloody mad I am over it! Seriously though, it's towards the end of this week new week coming up when things become favorable for snow in the SE, it's just to warm here at the moment. In comparison to most of Europe the UK is mild, temps of 4c to 5c is just so disappointing, then dew points of 2c just now, well forget any snow chances before Weds at the very least. Sleet is the very best you'll get and if you are more elevated then wet snow. The rest of Europe is between -1 to 2c whilst we bask in rain conducive 4c & 5c due being in less cold strip of air currently. Zzzzzzzz
  9. These showers might arrive in good time for snow this evening despite the precipitation losing intensity as it finally gets to our region. Looks like we'll only get scraps Anything will do! Were desperate lol
  10. Interesting runs suggesting colder uppers next week conducive to Snow. Always hope the work & effort of this site from members can see more than the BBC for example and get the weather right above their forecasts. Activity from the North Sea currently giving rain on coast & sleet & snow in land. Noticing that showers are merging as they come south. An area of precipitation through the Midlands and heading for SW Britain is gaining momentum as it heads further south. I think this is a sign that despite the weather ie; BBC saying for my region (Cloudy, cold, dry) actually were in nowcast with things at times. Just had a light snow shower as I'm typing. First Snow for almost a year here in Hatfield.
  11. Haven't posted for a while on here, good to be back & this post is not chart related so apologise in advance, but just wanted to rant a little on behalf of the SE of England. Monday: A area of sleet & snow from the North will pivot over the SE & 1-2cm of Snow will fall. Reality: The low stalls 50 miles away from the SE & decides to sleep & fade away! We end up Dull, Cold & Dry Wednesday: An area of rain may slide towards SE & dump 2-5cm of Snow as it meets colder air. It could also slip in to France & miss the southern half of the UK. Reality: It did miss the UK, the computer said bleedin' NO & we end raw, dull & dry. Next week! A North Easterly will develop with showers pilling in. Oh yes! Surely this will favour us South Easteners Nope, it's turning slightly less cold, so that any showers will be of rain & possibly sleet mixed in at best! Snow further north Our luck is terrible. Seeing all these great charts, hearing Met Office weather warnings. Nothing. Just dry & cold. Just like 2020 has been. Tier bleedin' 3 & vaccine hope! Nope have Tier 4 just before Xmas. Now the weather joins in lol. If you can't cry, you just have to laugh. Hope 2021 heralds snow surprises for everyone & people get their lives back. Happy New Tier everyone I mean Year! & Up the Gunners!!
  12. Just a disgruntled snow hunter seeing that despite their being uncertainty for next week, the models are UP then DOWN, then UP again, it's exhausting. I don't like the BBC or the Met or indeed follow those forecasts, but just feel as though were all maybe guilty of being too drawn in to these charts as they come around. I expect the trend to less cold, and hope all the good work you guys and gals do come to some sort of fruition in terms of a much colder outlook.
  13. Why the charts are showing us these tease frames is annoying. The trend is already set to become less cold next week.
  14. Straw clutching is all it is. This forum has members that work tirelessly, and it's to be honest very hard to read. All over snow, but were all passionate about it, and I stand by the passion that is shown. I just hope we can enjoy a cold spell worthy of your work.
  15. Would still want the cold entrenched into North Africa to be certain lol. Can't wait!
