Well and truly smashed 30c barrier here. 32.8c gives us the hottest day of the year. Luckily, tho our garden is SW facing, we're surrounded by mature trees keeping the patio in shade for most of the day.

The negativity on this forum is unreal! Is there not another thread for weather moans? The clue is in the word forecast. Meteorology isn't an exact science. Forecasters can only make the best of the data in front of them plus their knowledge of what similar set ups have led to. I live in an area that's a healthy mix of the rural and cimmuter land. Knowing heavy rain is incoming is vital for farmers particularly during the harvest. They rely on forecasts to plan their week, etc. The vast majority of the time the met( and many amateurs too) do get it right. IMBY there's a lot of surface water on the roads, so I'll be leaving earlier than usual to account for poor driving. That decision was also made based on a warning for heavy rain. There are no guarantees for thunderstorms. If there was, somebody would be making a fortune. Now I'm off to get my wellies and raincoat which I left by the back door.
