  1. Lovely out there today, very overcast earlier but the sun is now out. Snow as far as the eye can see, take this over the mild wet muck any day.
  2. Had a lovely walk, hope the magnet gap can bring a little more this way tonight
  3. I always come to the lake district in Jan. I go home Friday and it's been pants it really has. If I had webbed feet I'd be over the moon.
  4. Thermostat set for 16.5c morning and afternoon then jumps to 18c for the evening. As its wireless have moved it into a slightly warmer part of the hallway. Plus have turned down the flow rate on the boiler from it's preset of 80 down to 60.
  5. Im not normally one for taking any notice of anything beyond 120 but this time it looks like the start to winter could be something special.l promised my wife I'd put up the out side decs next weekend on my return from York but after looking at the general consensus coming from all the models I think I'll do it this weekend instead. Enjoy the ride peeps it could be a good un.
  6. when i used to work at sea doing oceanography the shipping forcast was always taken note of, it came with the job as none of us took the power of mother nature for granted. However most folks these days dont even bother to look at the sky anymore, too wrapped up with that thing in their hand (no pun intended)
  7. know that area well, good coastal walks. if the wind isnt going to be enough to deal with the storm coinsides with a high tide not a spring tide but you will still get a tidal surge so plaese be safe
  8. tomorrow will come as a shock to your family then, try not to be too smug when you say "i told you so"
  9. i have found the lack of interest in the upcoming storm from uk news agencies very odd, they have not got a clue whats about to happen more interested in Royal family issues
  10. i'm doing double night shifts for all of Feb covering for someone who is shielding plus my own. i know what you mean with out the white stuff it can drag a bit at least im in bed for most of the day so don't have to look at cold grey drab
  11. may have to top it off with an egg for good measure
  12. Have had a pleasant night shift watching it snow very light stuff blowing all over the place. still think there is more to come via streamers probably waiting until just before rush hourby which time i'll be at home with a brew and sausage bap
  13. place your order and ill send it down just let me know how much
  14. just been going over the expected temps for my area upto next Friday tomorrow onwards not one in plus range but what really caught my eye was the expected wind chill. lowest is a very impressive -13 although i think we could go even lower than that. going to borrow my sons mega telescope and do some star gazing if possible.
  15. The down side to that is that the bleedin media with make it out to be like a scene from "the day after tomorrow" up this way we just get on with it.
  16. Just been out and snow settling onto roofs, cars and grass but roads still too warm. Off to Leek in a bit will need big coat as the wind chill is cutting
