  1. It stayed just above freezing last night, so a frost free lawn - lovely to see the sunshine as well
  2. Weird this morning, fog/low cloud has come down and part melted the frost on the grass - so wet and frosty at the same time. 2,7C now.
  3. Got up to 12C just after lunch, but starting to cloud over and cool down again, now though. It was so good to see a bit of sunshine this morning after all the grey days lately Roll on Spring
  4. Wind kept me awake most of last night, but it was a lovely bright sunny (still windy!) day to follow. Dried the washing a treat but had to use twice as many pegs lol Still reading 6C outside here, feeling a lot cooler in that stiff breeze though
  5. Well, I suppose I should be grateful I got 1 day of sunny & cold! - back to grey again today No sun, no wind, no rain, 4C - does that count as no weather?
  6. The wind is beginning to pick up here, as well, just dashed out into soggy garden to prop the leaning fence post back up - I wonder if it will make the weekend when it was due for proper repair.. Too dark, wet and miserable to do anything outside today.
  7. I wouldn't mind some cold, as long as we saw some clear skies to go with it - it's this perpetual gloom that is sooo depressing
  8. Woke up and opened curtains to bright sky and dry underfoot. By the time I got downstairs to put the kettle on it was grey skies and rain, huge fat raindrops *sulk* Low of 5C in the greenhouse overnight, 7.5C now.
  9. Light level seems stuck in the twilight zone, so lights on indoors, and the footpath is still flooded from overnight rain. The overnight low in the greenhouse was -3.6C and now it's 7C and blustery with gusts up to 32mph
  10. The temperature has really dropped today from 8.4C at 1am to 2.3C at 3pm. So wonder whether if the next lot will fall as snow?
  11. Lots of rain overnight, footpath flooded again, now we have huge wet snowflakes among the rain, just looked and there are a lot more of them in the mix now. Too wet for any to settle, unless it turns a lot colder. Wind has started howling down the chimney as well now - good job I haven't got to go out!
  12. Although it is mild, it's just another day of mist and murk, drizzle and general grottiness Could we please have some cold, crisp sunny days - soon?
  13. Woke up to thick freezing fog this morning and it's only lifted a little bit, so far Temp has managed to creep up to 0C - thermometer in the greenhouse registered -3C overnight.
  14. AS someone that gets S.A.D these are the worst few weeks, for me... Roll on Spring. I don't like the cold weather, but that's easier to manage than the long hours of darkness. On a positive note - today is cold but IT IS SUNNY
  15. Yup, mine wants her evening meal by 5pm, most of the year it's about 9pm, but she's really making a fuss if I try to leave it till then. So have to put extra dry food down or else she'd be waking me up because she'd be hungry before I get up..
  16. No snow here, just lots of rain. Must be snow up/down the line cos there are no trains running. Hold that thought - first one just gone down the line as I've been typing. The wind is certainly getting up as forecast
  17. Very windy night and early this morning. A bit of brightness later and 12C at lunchtime Turned colder this evening as it got dark, and I couldn't seem to get warm. Extra jumper now on
  18. So it is nice and warm for the time of year, granted - but what's the point if all we get is grey sky and no sun to cheer everyone up! It's just so depressing, I'd rather have some cold/crisp days as long as we got some sunshine tbh!
  19. From a gardener's perspective - here in the SE it has been a good year for sunshine, with many hot sunny days, but we have also had a good few below average overnight temperatures throughout the summer. Tomatoes were late to start ripening, even in the greenhouse. I've been having to water the allotment garden for a lot of the growing year, as apart from a few short sharp wet periods, it has been a very dry year. I kept expecting to hear the words 'hosepipe ban'! Recently we've had cool misty mornings which don't usually appear until much later, and the starlings have started congregating already, much earlier than usual. So it seems that Autumn really is well on its way.
  20. It's been rumbling for about 20 minutes here as it slowly got darker and darker, we've just had out first 'proper' lightning and thunder. ... and a second! It still hasn't started raining though- and that is what the garden desperately needs.
  21. Looks like a lively night on the cards we could certainly do with some rain!
  22. I soooo agree, need some sunshine now to lighten the mood, central heating has turned itself back on again today - not good news
  23. Blimey, it's so difficult to get even next week's weather right, I don't know why anyone pays any heed to long-range ones. Plain daft!
  24. It's cool 12.9C and cloudy, occasionally darker clouds with a few spits of rain, quite calm. Not much warmer than last night's low of 9.7C. A bit disappointing for mid-May
  25. It's 7C cooler than yesterday only 10C today - "what a difference a day makes" Feeling a bit Brrr.tbh
