  1. Storm chasing season is almost upon us, Tour 1 begins later this week! Less than 4 weeks until I fly out myself...

  2. Hi Paul, Hope you are out this year again. What are your dates? Maybe we can meet up at some point?

My dates are 16th to 30th May. Flying in to DFW.

PS. Closer to the time maybe let me know what your 'Spotter Network' name is?

    Tony

  5. Who needs Storm Chase USA when you can do it much closer to home for a fraction of the price! Amazing tornado outbreak in Germany last weekend!

In answer to your question, I think you are getting the backward (as you call it) states mixed up with the Southern Plains. Are you thinking of Dixie Alley for example Arkansas, Louisiana, Missisippi etc

In the Southern Plains there is plenty to do when it is quiet, even at the moment in the ridge of death as people call it we have had 3 colorado days with Golfball to Softball sized hail noted on all days (Does that happen on ridged set-ups with a blocking high in Europe) no dont think so. Also you could spend 2 months in the Dakotas and would still not have enough time to do it all. Anyway not going to spend time batting it against europe/uk any longer because I know its a impossible to chase in the Uk due to roads and traffic and pulse nature of storms and b in europe because it is not set up for it (eg large hotels and vast open spaces) But if you think it i possible then go for 2 weeks and lets see the results am guessing there might be quite a lot of European Churches and al fresco cafe shots for everyone to see

I think 33 Tornadoes in 20 Chase Days says everything you need to know about Stormchase USA but hey ho if you think the Uk or Europe is better for chasing then crack on buddy

  8. Hi Paul.

yes its only me. Hope you are OK?

Just a quick update for information; There was mention last year that you might have found a good deal for your data? Was this with a USA SIM card or did you rent a MIFI? ....Anyway TBH prob can't make this year due to lack of finances but will be out next year.

PS. You are probably aware that this will be an El Nino Spring. Past records show potential for an early big outbreak April but not much May?  Often followed by a late season workable outlook from halfway through June to end of July?

    Regards Tony

Will find out the exact name for you Tony, it was different to the flat puck Red Verizon Mifi we used the year before and was a smaller Green device which Ian M topped up from cards at Walmarts which was much easier than finding a Verizon Store.

Yh saw you guys went out there in June and was surprised we never crossed paths as we usually do!

      Hi Mate,

God I hope that dont happen lol as that would wipe out 5 of our 7 weeks chasing and would come back with a great suntan!! Regards the MIFI Think they rented it last year and it autoswitched between servers and worked quite well. Hope you make it out this year by the looks of it you might be first out there if it kicks off in April!

      Regards

Sorry to be picky, but how on earth can the Meto decipher wether there was an embedded Supercell along a Squall Line along a Cold Front, if they could not even decipher wether the Bicester Twister was a Supercell ??

  22. Saw this on MetO 6-15 day forecast and like a moron couldnt help but get excited :D Towards the end of the month, however, temperatures will perhaps rise above average, especially in southeast England, bringing an increased chance of humid and thundery conditions

Customs asked where I had been at LHR This Week, When I said Chasing Storms the guy at Passport Control asked wether there was any duty to pay on that. They would if they could Robbie! Pmsl
