  1. Actually found this spell much more oppressive than any time in 2018,19 or 20. Lot more humid i've found. To be honest 2018 was a really good summer heat wise, nothing that uncomfortable in my area, just the lack of rain for the countryside resulted in a scorched earth appearance!
  2. oh yes, far better. Much more liveable with! Roll on the weekend breakdown!
  3. Another tough day for working in, everybody was shattered, clients, customers, del drivers, ....counting the days down to relief at the weekend. Most of us haven't a beach to lie on mid afternoon enjoying the hot sand, most have to come home in hot cars and roasting public transport to houses over 30c then try and sleep.
  4. Don't forget over 95% of the population have no access to a beach hence the dislike of this weather, you are very very fortunate.
  5. Just been working in Blackpool, Manchester and near to Leeds today, every single person i met on 3 separate sites was moaning about the heat, very irritable some! Not one liked it, it certainly is the humidity, One was even moaning in a air conned office!
  6. This week is going to be endurance not enjoyment i fear. At least come Friday some welcome relief may be arriving...very welcome by then!
  7. We are here for fun aren't we? not to be analysed what we may have posted last year?
  8. This up coming week is looking appalling for working in, by a long way the worst working weather for a few years...its going to be tough and very unpleasant.
  9. Well thats very strange then. All these folk i speak to on travelling the country on a daily basis are all liars then!! When they say how bad a nights sleep they had, how awful it was in the heat at 3am,how fans are useless in a already hot room...they are fibbing!! Very strange Oh by the way i had rheumatic fever as a kid, left me with chronic arthritis, my sympathies but the cold doesn't effect it, a change of weather does, either cold to hot or hot to cold, its not a simple one fits all condition if you really look into it.
  10. Yep totally agree, weather is perfect, but temp is both totally unuseable both for doing anything thing and sleeping in! Not looking forward to next few days at all. By far the worst part of the Summer so far.
  11. Sorry to say the next couple of nights at least look horrific for sleeping if you haven't aircon. I suspect most will agree that it's at night the issue of heat really is felt. The colder weather doesn't keep you awake at night no matter how much you hate it, folk who love this weather seem to forget this.
  12. Just seen a couple go by on my road running. The lady i get, proper running gear for this temp, actual track gear, the man, full body suit on including hood and gloves...guess which one looked like a cooked lobster about to fall over? Also folk have been walking past, coats on and woolly hats! I'll never feel odd again in my shorts in snow!
  13. Curtains closed, arcon on, going to be a day of catching up on TV box sets! Far to hot already to be comfortable outside, oh well first time this summer so not to bad i suppose.
  14. For yourself i agree not a issue, but for many trying to sleep i suggest humidity is one of the most disruptive weather patterns sleep wise though..It can really effect your well being and alertness levels due to lack of sleep.
  15. Heat-health alert issued in England for weekend WWW.BBC.CO.UK Public Heath England wants people to look out for those who may be at risk in warmer weather. Thankfully it looks like my area will escape the worst this weekend, mid 20's. But still enough to keep me indoors and sheltering! Its also well timed as well, being the weekend, far easier to avoid going out in it!
  16. Its unworkable in by quite a long way, you can't breath or function properly, we never stay in conditions even close to this for any. measurable time. You wouldn't last long if you did!
  17. Not allowed to....someone has to be there to carry me out when i pass out!.....our record was 49c with 100%, had to bail out after a few mins just to much, thankfully the kit was starting to trip out because it couldn't condense the steam inside the chambers back to water because it was to hot!. Crap job but it pays the bills but kept us employed during covid and trust me in the Winter going from 35c plus to walking outside to minus 5 or less in less than a minute doesn't half make you feel alive! Hence why i love the colder months!
  18. Heatstroke? yep me, 2 times but learnt me lesson, HSE far more strict now!! Not may of us are heat lovers.....can't think why!
  19. Its not natural conditions, i work with steam sterilisers, medical kit in enclosed decontamination rooms, no ventilation or air con allowed. Hotter out side equals a logarithmic increase in temp, not linear. ie 1c increase outside can mean 3c inside dependent on location
  20. Buttercup!!....Ok Daisy spend 2 days doing my job in a ambient temp of over 25c Lets be fair i commented about working in didn't i? 2 days, that's all. 40c plus, 100% humidity, 10 to 12 hrs......be interesting to see how you coped.....oh by the way enjoy your warmth, looks fairly settled in your area( or in my language vile and hot!)
  21. Really hoping this upcoming spell of uncomfortable weather for working in is short livid, i get why folk like this type of weather, its Summer, but for the likes of myself it really impacts on the day's work, the sooner it returns to more of the akin to what we've had the better. Thankfully it is not looking that extended so i'm keeping my fingers crossed. This Summer has been very good so far, by far one of the better ones so i suppose i've been spoilt!
  22. Yep, this Summer's thread is far more populated. Its not been a wash out, far from it, useable temps, nothing cold really, coolish may be but cold no.
