October 2020 C.E.T. and EWP forecast contests
seaside 60 replied to Roger J Smith's topic in Spring Weather Discussion
I dont know how it will average out but its supposed to rain for the next 24/36 hours down here in various places in southern UK. So one would imagine thats a pretty large chunk going onto the rainfall totals. Hugely impressive radar chart showing the low pressure to the south of us. -

Your not that far away from here but the difference is amazing. You say unsettled there, here grasslands are like deserts, well they are starting to green up now after the last few days. However I would say drought conditions here for most of the summer. -

Yes they have been forming south and north and west of where I am here. Nothing like the Shoeburyness rain shield. -

This weather really go and do one. Its been 19/20c for about 48 hours now, its foul damp ish humid cloudy we missed almost all of the heavy rain/showers/thunderstorms bar yesterday morning for a bit. Noticed Writtle had 50mm rain yesterday, not here. Much prefer the good old fashioned hot weather followed by total breakdown with fresher weather coming in behind and then maybe starting up again, but this yuuukkkkkk -

However will the fresher weather actually be fresher with moist humid south westerlies at 23/24c. LIkely to be just as bad but a least a fair breeze. That rain band/showers you showed on Arome is nothing like the MO radar forecast. -

MO already had loads storms breaking out by now. Latest radar shows nothing and sat pics show very little proper cloud. Are they delayed or are the dynamics not working for them. -

Its the best thing to have, the units do hot, cold and just blowing air so multi purpose and very efficient. I suffer from the heat days and have to work out in it a lot, nothing better than coming back into cool air to get your core body temp down and lovely nights sleep. Thats a very interesting stat there, 1000 every year die due to heatwaves, brings into perspective the current few deaths of a certain thing going around this summer. -

Totally agree with you. For some places up north ish it might have been a not so good summer but down here it just seems endlessly summer even without this extreme hot weather.
