At last we have some decent rain falling, for how long who knows. It has been so dry around these parts of late.

The electric Mini is actually a retrofitted petrol model. The battery is in a T shape so it fits inside the transmission tunnel.
You'd be better waiting for a proper electric version that was built from the ground up for electric propulsion.
all over my head and will take a bow to superior knowledge so will wait as you suggest . I’m a woman, not completely useless though as I can charge the battery and fill the windscreen water bottle . It is likely to be another 2 years before I change the car so hopefully they will have sorted it by then?

Electric cars appear to me to be so expensive too unless I am imagining it? Maybe reflects the rare metals used I guess. My mini cooper coupe is 8 years old this September and the local mini dealership contact me every so often to see if I am looking to change my car. Nope as (a) mine has only just under 15k on the clock and (b) they don’t make the coupe model anymore They offered me a test drive in the electric mini but I didn't take the offer up and I’m probably ashamed to admit this but it was because I have driven a geared car now for 45 years and the thought of automatics worried me somewhat. I wouldn’t know what to do with my left foot and hand

brrrr, very cold this morning . Clear, calm and crisp with a widespread air and ground frost. Very pretty.

Another dusting of snow overnight around these parts. Now clear, sunny but very cold.

A very mild morning with no heating required. It was a very blustery wet night, which continues this morning Do so miss the calm, cold weather of the weeks before Christmas

There's space for you in our log cabin my dear!

Yea realistically I wouldn't do that annually. In fact I have never been over the big pond to USA. The long flight scares me. I did Antiqua for my honeymoon. So Baltic's is less far to travel. And one day I really, Really, REALLY want to go to Santa land!! Rovimemi or however you spell it! I think I will just cry my eyes out seeing real Santa and the northern lights!
Yes, I would really love to go to Finland…..however, a trip to Sweden or Norway would also do just fine too!

I’m fed up of this horrid wet, windy mild muck too. Wish we could return to the crisp cold bright weather we had. I’m using just as much energy to heat to be honest because the wet weather makes everywhere feel damp I’ve even taken my outside Christmas lights down today as the windy weather forecast may damage them.

Dreadfully wet, dull and damp Christmas morning albeit mild. It is a case of Merry Wetmess more than anything.
So miss the calm cold crisp weather of a couple of weeks back.

I found this extremely sad news today. I know zero about raising Pandas but can’t help but feel perhaps that Longleat took their eye off the ball here and surely some questions should be asked
Longleat safari park red panda cubs die in cold snap
WWW.BBC.CO.UKTala and Sumi are thought to have died from hypothermia in their nesting box.So to cheer me up after reading the above I watched this Panda having fun in the snow. So cuddly

Lovely and frost again this morning. Disinfected all my cat litter trays this morning outside and had a trouble cleaning the layer of ice that formed on them as they were left to dry. Back to horrid windy wet weather over the next few days it seems Will have to take outside Christmas lights down until the windy weather has “done one” as it sometimes breaks them as they bash against the windows panes - right pain in the derriere.

Putting aside the worry of heating costs we all have. Although my Smart meter has regularly been on red this last fortnight for electricity as I try to keep rooms warm the log burner heat cannot reach and don’t have radiators🫣 I have enjoyed the cold calm frosty weather and am really not looking forward to the forecast windy weather. Absolutely detest windy weather Hoping we have another shot at cold before winters end.

Something is falling from the sky but not nice flakes of snow. Looks like very fine graupel to me ?

Very cold this morning. So cold I couldn’t get my magnetic gate locks to work despite being protected overnight. I am told me had a smattering of snow showers around 2.00am this morning.

I would love to know what those charts mean but what was interesting to me was them talking about an event which happened late in the 70's on New years eve, I can remember coming out of a panto ( which we did every year when i was young) and coming out to snow. Only happened once and it was always the gold standard, but it never happened again. I am yet to ever see falling snow at christmas (24/25) but can remember snow in kent in the 80's (?)
I can understand some aspects of it all but nowhere near enough at all. I have tried reading up on meteorological phenomena but do find that perhaps not having a grounding in basic physics seems to hamper a better understanding and I soon get lost! All girls church school in the 1970 - physics didn’t seem to be on the curriculum.

December is the one month i want snow, one furry Christmas Eve, sorted.
Having a nose in the MAD thread is certainly a roller coaster, for sure.
I am struggling to keep up with the pace in there I just hone in to see what specific long time posters are saying when the thread gets so busy, usually posters who always seem to know where they are at with regards to reading the models and translating it into a simple enough language I can follow.

Will still do my weekly document write-ups but probably won't post here much as I can't really keep up as we go into the best chance we've arguably had for a while in early Winter. Sorry that this is off topic mods just wanted to let the 0 people interested. I don't wish to sound egotistical, after all I'm not that well versed in meteorology it's just some people seem to find my posts interesting I guess. It's sort of a half goodbye for now, don't know when I'll be back to my normal mental state though. If I still feel overwhelmed throughout Winter, good luck to everyone. Of course, I may feel better next week I just don't know.
Anyway, my thoughts for now is that if this does happen, it'll be fairly decent away from lowland areas, depending on the exact direction I suppose that North Sea snow showers can occur but whether this will be cold enough to properly cool this coasts remains unknown. I think the main benefit of this is that it could bring snow to areas away from the usual early Winter areas but again, that still remain unknown. I'm not willing to commit to anything really as of yet but the AAM forecasts suggest that we'll see a gradual weakening of the Nino Atmospheric state into next week and lag correlations would suggest the second week of December or sometime around then to be the transition period before a re-entry into the Nino state and so mid to late December, interest may arise again but it's too far away for anything solid.
Take care of yourself Eagle Eye. A great deal of the technical posts in here are well above my meteorological knowledge but I can get the general direction of travel from them but I do respect the knowledge and learning that goes into all the posts in this thread.

Has been quite a lovely day here after a very wet start. Temperature 8c. Wind 14mph SSW. Pressure 998. I note the Met Office has a weather warning out for my area tomorrow for wind and rain.

Heavy torrential rain for the last hour. Trying to sew patchwork pieces together and its so dark I may have to give up soon
