  1. My favourite weather is usually the stuff nobody wants - ie: severe, unexpected and disruptive weather
  2. Isn’t there a small chance of sferics into the night over the channel? I don’t expect anything more than cloud farts, but i’ll take whatever’s going at the moment
  3. It won’t amount to much. I keep praying the forecasters have got it wrong but it looks like for any decent rain or anything we are in exactly the wrong place
  4. I was about to say - Norwegian are very good from my experience so far
  5. You have to say it correctly like the papers do: ”Britain set to bask in a RECORD-BREAKING THREE MONTH HEAT NIGHTMARE the met office say. Their supercomputers have PROVED we will see APOCALYPTIC HEATWAVES as hot weather sweeps the country MELTING HOSPITALS and probably causing the ELDERLY to EXPLODE... and... ...THE EARTH WILL BE DESTROYED! (Turn to page 3 for a more detailed outlook)”
  6. It’s not likely to turn into anything - the forecasts say nothing for our area. Mind you I think we have a better chance of a storm if there is no forecast - based on the performance of recent weeks
  7. Temps are supposed to max out at about 22° from what I read earlier - reckon it can get hotter? (Was looking forward to at least a small thundery shower at some point this weekend in our area, but as always it’s all been shifted away from our area and downgraded to a minuscule risk unfortunately)
  8. It was really dark for like hours and hours earlier but since about 7am it got a bit brighter. Still cloudy though.
  9. I think you might be right - I tried looking earlier through the attachments ont he forum but no luck. I’m sure it was summer almost exactly one year ago cos I had my old van at the time and I remember being a bit miffed cos I thought it was all over, and then things just started kicking off - then it was one of the most fantastic storms the central south and London have seen for years! when I get time i’ll trawl through my photos and find it. (I’m a very disorganised person)...
  10. Amazing! I wish I could find the images / gif from a storm last year - a weird cloud formation I noticed rapidly began to rotate and produced a stunning fork of lightning right in front of me. I’m sure it was a cell becoming supercellular. It then quickly headed northwards toward the Farnham area. Looked very similar to your photo.
  11. Wow - hopefully we’ll get something memorable too Hoping for some sun obvs, but making sure we have a good balcony or garden with a view for any storms that may head our way. Maribor seems to have at least one significant storm every day (this week anyway). I might buy a shed in a field there and use it as my holiday home
  12. We’re looking at heading out to Slovenia in July. Literally a storm every day this week - and chuffin gooduns at that! ️ ️ ️
  13. Unrelated(ish) - but any chance the site can pre-frame the space needed for an image before it loads? when I’m not on WiFi it takes about 10 seconds on some pages before the text I’m trying to read stops jumping about the screen as the image data comes back from the server... Dunno if anyone else has this issue too? (move to ge right thread if needed)
  14. Some thunderstorms kicking off in northern France with the far SE’s name on them I reckon
  15. High cloud breaking up over central London which is good, but the sun needs to join the party soon so if we want to see temps reach decent levels by this afternoon - it felt quite chilly earlier on
  16. By all accounts last night’s little show on the SE coast is a good example of a somewhat under-egged forecast - probably a better and more solid storm than most would have expected. Shame it wasn’t further west and inland but I think a good indicator that this slack regime we have offers itself best to nowcasting and that anything can happen. At one point nearly 10,000 strikes in the course of about an hour from a couple of very slow moving continental storms - right on our doorstep! Until we get our Atlantic system and jest stream back i’m taking most storm forecasts with a very fresh pinch of salt
  17. Feeling fresh this morning so I think you’ll need plenty of sun to beef things up. Last night shows even in a low risk zone we can get some hefty little storms going though...
