  1. Thanks Andy - that explains a fair deal and I think you are right. How interesting. Photos didn actually do the formation justice and the corrugation was quite pronounced. I have posted it to the cloud appreciaton society FB page so lets see heh. How curious too about the rain radar and it evaporating before reachinig the ground - I take it there must be a unique temperature/humidity tipping point here that is creating this. Onto google search I go again! ......
  2. Here we go chaps this is the picture of the corrugated clouds this morning....anyone seen anything like this?
  3. Anyone see the cloud shape over Theale ATM. For me it looks unusual as I have never seen it before. I can only describe it as undulating like corrugated iron sheets. Ill try and get a photo.. On the train ATM and ill need to see if there is any at Reading..
  4. Such a gorgeous day yesterday on the south coast - clear at Chichester although I hear that Brighton had a sea mist....Got back to Newbury at about 9pm greated by a lovely mackeral sky..... see photo.. so pretty and I havent seen one for ages (prob cos I live in a flat and i work alot!!).. Sign of weak front as I always remember? and sure enough here it is today... Looking forward to a hot weekend - please let it still be on the cards...
  5. Looks like the weather is changing over Heathrow? .... Getting a bit blowy on air port live !
  6. Airport Live is going to discuss the thunderstorm potential today later in the programme.. You can certainly see the clouds building out west when Kate humby presents on the viewing platform. ... Looks promising for home grown cells..?
  7. Erh why have we clouds this morning in Chichester and that brisk north easterly again? .... Radar shows us as not a cloud in the sky?....... Hmmm
  8. It's already brought me to tears.. Horrifying. Poor people. What also I want to know is on the chap that hid in his closet you can clearly see that the house next door is intact... As well as the urban area of Moore where so many poor people lost their lives, there were people and livestock and animals in the rural area that also suffered so much.. One horse yard lost all 80 horses.
  9. Well it certainly looks and feels convective out there... What are the chances you think of some thunderstorms this eve? ..
  10. Yep think bbc has something too on the website about more floods to come cos of global warming.. Now what they really should be doing is interviewing this lady..... I love her... Don't forget t call your mama now to see if she alright.
  11. Some poor chap lost his life in this snow near Burnley. . http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-21907837
  12. Yes I was wondering too why he hadn't popped his head around the door .
  13. It did look nuts.. Saw the footage in the Internet... Was thinking the same thing about 62/63... One major difference though .. That is only from 3 days of snow and look at the chaos. 62/63 was 3 months!! Dad was telling me about it and just how hard it was. Fortunately he said they were in an old cottage I think in Lincolnshire and the walls of the cottage were nearly a foot thick so when the range was on it was well toasty. Mum said the worse thing for her was getting the nappies dry! She couldn't put them on the line as they froze in minutes!
  14. Snowing again a little in Newbury... I checked the radar and there is wee little blue bolv over us ... So tiny ... Almost cute...
  15. Yup snow must have stopped here in Newbury about an hour ago... All wet and meaty. In fact you wouldn't have thought it had snowed here in some parts of town.. Just grey damp and miserable now... Oh and cold...
  16. Conditions getting bad in Newbury on the roads.. Not nice try not to drive if you can. It maybe wet but it is heavy and the roads slippery and slushy. Visibility ain't good either
  17. Yep I gathered that from a plethora of Facebook posts! But even earlier I think for Wokingham First time in years I actually slept through to 830 and not up at 630! Typical I would have seen the first grains otherwise. It is sticking more now here on the roads .... You what is it like?
  18. It is Bristle Boy. Large flakes setting on cars Etc Looks to be quite wet though although starting to settle on pavements. Am off to the dentist later this morn so I will find out for sure.
  19. Watching the one show and is it Really heavy rain or snow they have there at the BBC television centre ? Anyone got it on?
  20. Hmm I see the MetOffice warning page is down.. Well it is for me anyway ... Must be the weather.... Lol.
  21. Looks as though that lady they were looking for in the house which collapsed in the looe landslide has been found.. Sadly a body has just been found according to the BBC
  22. Thanks for posting coast ... My one issue with that is the last para from BBC which doesn't actually help. If it is bad and as a witches brew how's about a reminder to avoid driving if at all possible rather than take a few warm things etc .. MetOffice does all it can to warn people and the highways agency to keep people safe but please can the BBC just maybe suggest to people to try and avoid driving unless absolutely necessary... Rant over at the BBC oh and the AA spokesperson
