  1. Had a low of -7.9c last night which is the coldest I can remember for a few years, had a sunny day which has helped to melt some of the frost/ice but everything still frozen especially in the shade, had lying snow on the front garden(north facing) since the weekend.
  2. Dropped to -6.8c here overnight and only risen to 0.6c max all day, but already below -1c now.
  3. Minimum of -5.8c here last night.it's been bitter all day but cloud cover has lifted the temps this evening above freezing after dropping below about 5pm
  4. In fairness it's not been that bad this year, compared to recent summers it's been very warm and dry and we have had some good sunny days, we were down in the midlands earlier in the week and the ground looked a lot more parched than when we returned home .
  5. I have travelled extensively over the years and experienced 40c+ temps before ,but the heat today in the garden made me feel uncomfortable ,I had to keep going inside just to cool down,I was a bit concerned as I had major heart surgery in February so I didn't want to tempt fate,We visited Kos Greece in June and temps were in the low/mid 30's but I never felt uncomfortable or worried . I have a couple of weather sensors in the garden and at one point they were both registering between 41c-42c in the shade,I know temps are liable to be affected by external objects but nevertheless it was bloody hot.Currently 27.2c and feeling much better especially after another cool shower. We're going down to Birmingham on Sunday for a couple of days to meet up with friends ,nice to see it's likely to stay relatively hot( between 23-27c forecast)
  6. Manchester Airport has hit 38c....100f ,never thought i'd see that in the NW https://tgftp.nws.noaa.gov/weather/current/EGCC.html
  7. 6c and light sleet here in Wigan,oh no sorry that's my stock reply for winter when the country is under 2ft of snow and sub zero temps It's 30.5c at the moment after an overnight low of 14c
  8. Woke up earlier and was so disappointed to see it was cloudy, the sun is now out in a clear blue sky, grass cut ,beers in the fridge, wife shopping for BBQ food ,time to get the pool out for the grandkids later...Lovely summer Saturday in Wigan
  9. I have travelled a lot to the Mediterranean and beyond in my 61 years so have experienced 40c+ temps on occasions ,but I'm really excited that we could get it here for the first time.
  10. I was shocked when i saw that, usually when a heatwave strikes Wigan gets a partly cloudy day with an evening shower and mild temps..Unbelievable that 41c is so near
  11. Beautiful day here today as was Monday when it reached 23c , yesterday was overcast but hopeful that the next week should see us in the NW get some decent warm sunny weather ,would love to get the BBQ out this weekend, and the paddling pool for the Grandkids.
  12. Me too, I was pleased to see that we will probably get a sunny warm weekend after the earlier forecasts.Very hot again here today.
  13. Looks like we might escape the wet weather at the weekend, hope so I would be happy for it to stay mostly sunny and 22c
  14. We're off to Guernsey on Sunday for 6 days, the weather was looking really good, we'd planned trips to Herm and Sark but the models seem to be edging away from a warm settled scenario...Fingers crossed it improves
  15. Had almost 36 hrs of heavy rain here, temps around 11-12c.Felt more like autumn/winter than spring. Roll on June when I'm heading down south to the wonderful Algarve to celebrate my 60th Birthday
  16. Yesterday was lovely and sunny but much more cloud today , next couple of weeks look very dry with HP dominating, but no heatwave unfortunately
  17. Thought I'd post here rather than the model thread as I'd no doubt be shot down by the people on there , but I wish these April synoptic charts had been in January , we would've been looking at a deep cold spell , instead we have it in April when all I want is some warm sunshine, it's all very depressing.
