If you are getting the Hotel Shuttle from DFW on no account use the courtesy phone to try to arrange it.
Best ring the hotel direct on yourr mobile and do it from inside terminal D and make sure they understand its D.
Got so frustrated got a taxi in the end.
Oh and I've called the hot tub!

It can all kick off on the 10th. This could have been part of the same prediction from earlier this month that was looking at the 5th-10th being active. I thought to myself then, hold on a couple of days.

Cheers mate, I reckon you could be right. I'll ping them an email anyway. See you at the hotel a week on Monday!
Looking forward to it.

Will do. Just trying to find their email addy, could you let me have it please Mark? Cheers

I think they only do picks ups from dfw or within a two miles radius for other locations such as the TRE.

Thanks for that. I've also had a reply from the hotel. I found their email address but it took some looking.

Hi Mark
Paul will be sending out the info packs 2 weeks before the chasing begins which is this wednesday so all the info will be in there. The Best Western Shuttle Bus picks up from Car Rentals I believe (Someone will correct me if I am wrong on this) so get to arrivals go outside, turn right and you will see the big blue car rental buses, get to car rentals and then call the Best Western and the airport shuttle bus will pick you up free of charge.
Thanks for that. It makes sense or else they'd be paying a toll every time they made an airport run.
-
As most of us will be using DFW to arrive ( there's always one ,BSC!) where do we go to get the Hotel shuttle for the Best Western?
I can't see anything on the DFW website , just a transfer to the car rental pickup.
Is this where we have to get to to collect the hotel shuttle?
If no one has an idea I'll have to trawl BW to find an email address
Thanks

Yes this is a tragic accident. Luckily his Youtube stream broke up as the crash occurred but you can see him blowing towards the junction which has the stop sign. Sadly not wearing a seatbelt didn't help. Will miss his chasing!
I would have been watching but was at work for 530 this morning.
A great loss but an avoidable one. Many reports speak of a failure to stop.
Again ,thoughts to family and friends

It was Kelly Williamson and his chase buddy Randy Yarnall and Corbin Jaeger.
I was a fan of the first two, had watched a couple of live streams of theirs on YouTube.
Terribly sad for the family and friends and the Chasing community.
A stark reminder of the dangers not just from the storms.
Rest in Peace

On Kelly Williansons stream a full rig was blown over on the 354 heading east to the 87. Crazy.

I'm watching Kelly Williamson on YouTube. Pretty decent feed.
He's just been hit by dust storm. 60+ mph winds

Yep. Nothing 100%, won't get my hopes up but will be hoping for a decent start to 2017

First big day of the season on the Plains is being looked at for Friday 24th. Will be keeping an eye on this one.

Think we went to Aspen Creek restaurant just a short walk down the road from the Best Western, Irving last time I stayed there a few years back.- was reasonably good I remember.
Always a novelty walking anywhere in the mid-west though, most locals drive even the shortest distances so they don't get hot and bothered out of their permanent air-con environments they live in half the year
The Aspen Creek has some excellent reviews on google.
Not fussy really, as long as there's a couple of cold frosty ones available.

And a Tripod is an essential piece of kit, even if you just buy a $20 one from Walmart leave it in the boot and use it as and when, and you can even leave it for other guests and not worry about taking it home.
We usually go out for dinner closeby to the Hotel on the 9th to get to know each other and chat about was is and what is not expected.
Not long now
I like the sound of what was formerly Lees Chicken and Catfish Shack ;-)

The photos/videos look great. I've been following the netweather chases online for a few years now, plus a whole load of other chasers on Facebook. Seeing a tornado would be awesome but I'm most excited to see supercells and lightning. Also, I use the Cloudspotter app (anyone else?) so I'm hoping to bank some shelf clouds for my collection.
So, Paul mentioned a dinner the night before - is that the night of the 9th?
I'm so excited but have no idea what to pack. I know it's likely to be hot but might we also run into lower temperatures? Do I need to pack my fleece?
the other thing I'm torn over is whether to bring my tripod. I'm going to hate lugging it around but on the other hand - will I regret not bringing it when it comes to photographing lightning? Do people often bring tripods?

Hi Christina,
I'm bringing my tripod. Will need it if we get to see some nighttime storm activity. Fits nicely in my holdall.
If you are taking a dslr and a video camera get a second plate for the tripod. Saves messing about .
Don't forget something waterproof also.

I will be one of the drivers on Tour 1 and this is the kind of supercell structure we'll hopefully see in just over 2 months time, a few tornadoes too will be nice!
Love that link. Check this one. If we see even one of these it'll be 10 days well spent

Myself and (a different)Paul will be arriving 5th May. Going to do the tourist stuff first for a couple of days. 60 days and counting
