Julian - thank you for starting your post with an expression of the shock and sympathy we all feel for what happened in the Alps this week. The mountains are so beautiful, it's just so awful.
-
Thanks Julian. A very interesting week coming up and you've done a great job at summarising what snowforecast.com describe as a "notoriously difficult" weather set-up with which to forecast with accuracy for the Alps.
-
Thanks Julian. As you say, a very pleasant week to be skiing in the Alps. I'm off to the French Alps next Friday so I hope the high pressure at the end of the week materialises, as well as the cold feed down it's eastern flank. Perfect!

A really comprehensive forecast Julian. Thank you for the time you must have taken to pull it together.

Thank you Julian. As you say, with light winds and less harsh temps, later in the week it should be very enjoyable on the slopes.
So a 'breather' coming up for the Alps after the recent heavy snowfalls and bitter temperatures. How long will it last? Well the GFS and ECM, whilst differing in detail, are both showing further cold blasts from the NW later in their runs, so hopefully no long lasting milder weather setting in.

We like it J10, we like it a lot! Finally a forecast that brings a smile to the face!
-
Very comprehensive J10, thanks. Just wish the outlook could have been better for those off to the mountains this coming week!
-
Thanks Julian. Shame to see decent amounts of precipitation finally arrive mid-week, only to be largely wasted with freezing levels so high. As you say, one to watch as even a modest lowering of freezing levels would transform many resorts.

Great 1st Blog Julian. Very comprehensive. Many thanks.
Now that the snow is finally arriving, let's hope it keeps on coming through the season!
