Hahah. You literally couldn't make it up. The best snowfall in Halmer End for many years and they both happen the two days I'm away!! But don't regret it, stunning up here. ...this was yesterday. Cloudy this morning with spits of sleet. Heading back tomorrow and reckon there will be plenty left where I live now so will get my fix. haha. Excited to see what the yellow echoes bring you all. Fingers crossed it's snow. -

Looks like the heaviest bit isn't even there yet. Fingers crossed for you all down there. Nothing in Keswick apart from a few drops of sleet! -

Well it looks like Crewe is finally getting some... Mum just sent me this pic. How long it will last? The yellow echoes are very close so hoping they get a heavier bit at least, would be great for the kids to see a decent snow 'fall'. -

Am I right in thinking the system moves across then sinks south, so once the initial thaw is over then aren't we back to where we were before temps wise? If that makes sense? -
Model Output Discussion - Into the new year

We have all seen a low hanging about with a good 24+Hours of rain etc where you think, "If this was only snow?!"...looks like that could be the one! -

I'm guessing we will soon start to see tonight's feature appearing on the radar. Kasim - which I have to say is a a top poster in here! - I'm sure will keep us in check in it's progression. Selfishly I'm in Keswick so was the Euro4 projection as it looks like we will get some flakes at least. Will be nice to walk the lake tomorrow with a covering. Either way, good luck people. -

Hi Cumbrian Marra. I'm in Keswick at the mo, so been keeping an eye on the forecast for here too and the latest Euro4 looks a LOT better for us on it's 6z run... -

Yeah, heard someone mention this in another thread so had a nosy. Most models agree that some feature will run across the south of the region tonight...some have it further north as well. I hope that is the case, more people in the fun. -

I know I'm repeating my previous few posts but the pivot is looking potentially good for Crewe? Even an hour extra might add a few cms? -

Plus just checked the Met O weather app and they are saying snow in Audley till 9am-ish. So maybe their model thinks the same? -

Been replaying the radar (and refreshing a lot! haha) and there is definitely a new pulse, pivoting round...so you might get a another few hours? -

Please don't Corona shame me but I booked a few days away in the Lakes to work in my campervan before Boris n co changed the tiers...after this year I decided to keep it as was just me and Daisy (the van) and keeping myself to myself. Anyways...sods law the bloody day I'm away, it looks like I must have had a few hours of snow back home. You couldn't make it up! Don't call it Karma!! Stunning here though, only bits of snow at side of road but stunning mountains. Sadly the belt missed here by a millimetre on the radar but glad you lot are getting some. I'm hoping by the time I get back there will still be some on the ground. @CreweColdI SO feel your pain...many many MANY times when living in Crewe when snow did fall it would be too wet to stick...That's where the altitude of where I live now really helps. If it is snowing but not sticking in Crewe then I know it will be sticking with ease up at mine. -

Model Output Discussion - Christmas and New Year
captaincroc replied to BlueHedgehog074's topic in Forecast Model Discussion
Morning all. Strange Euro 4 charts this morning... This model is normally really conservative with snow but this is for tonight... snow in the belt...? The uppers are only 0c, Air Temps are 7c etc... Then it looks like snow from the showers all the way after the front clears... This is not to drag up #UppersGate but lots of things - I thought - don't scream 100% snow...especially the chart for tonight where temps aren't even that cold. Just wondered if the experts can spot something I haven't? -

Me too, a few times this week I have questioned something and then someone beats me to the questions on here...haha. I was wondering the same...how can it go literally from a Col to gale force winds a few miles away? What will differentiate between those masses as such? Fronts? -
Model output discussion - The run up to Christmas

I've been thinking the past week, what weather would I pick if I could pick a chart...and selfishly it would be something like this. A beast from the east is great but being to the west of the Peaks/Pennines always causes a shadow so only the perfect synoptics will give us a dumping ...these charts however would be just amazing to see and something I never have experienced in mt 39 years. A true blizzard (gale force winds and heavy snow) from the north. If this happened then a dream come true. -

I agree. Yes, I would love 2 ft of powder snow and ice days but if I forever wait for that then it could be a long damn wait! . After the past few years of 'meh' I am glad there is at least some scope for some fun and games the next week or two at least.
