The frost is getting even thicker tonight; is there such thing as measuring frost thickness? What has been lovely has been the ability to still walk the dog without sliding on ice/slush. Infact I think this spell is pretty unique in my living memory because 2010 was cold with deep snow and beast from the east was powder snow and severe wind chills.
I think I make it four ice days in a row with maybe five nights below -5C. Can we do two nights on the trot at -10? If so that'll be incredible. Shame it comes to an end though in a weird way the extreme high temps for Monday will make it somewhat interesting compared to what we've been used to for two weeks.

The frost is that thick here it looks like snow!

Reaseheath weather station is reporting -10c. If so we've had a range from 38c to -10 in the space of five months which for the UK is incredible.

Colder tonight at -7 already however oddly I felt warmer walking the dog than I did last night.

Here in Crewe, direct sunlight has led to patches of the garden losing its frost but only patches and I imagine even that will end before long as the sun starts to dip below the tree / building line. A lovely day but oh-so cold!
Yes just looked out and there is a minor amount of melting where sun has been on for a few hours but much less than the weekend just gone. Another hard freeze tonight it seems.

Still -2C here, the sun isn't actually melting the frost as it did the other day. Still white across the whole garden.

Winsford on Windy is showing a -9 and some other stations -8 so maybe it is possible?
I was living in Stoke in 2010 and we certainly didn't get a -15c. I feel like I might have some old posts about it hitting -10c somewhere.

Just opened the door to get a feel. Even since I took the dog out, the air just feels that bit more frigid, bit more breathtaking. The feels like is -10c, not sure what factors that in considering there isn't a breath of wind?
Trying to think when I last experienced -8c. Stoke never got to those levels due to height usually even with snow cover. Perhaps in 2010 we might have inched a -10c one night.

-7 being reported at Reaseheath weather station which is about half a mile from mine.

-6 here, same as it was at 10pm. Maybe we can squeeze a -7 before dawn.

I think we recorded an ice day, the freezing fog left some very interesting ice droplets on cobwebs all day. Had a nice walk across the fields which were white. The dog thought it was snow and tried to grab the frost!

-4C here with thick freezing good. SE got a dumping last night, so frustrating how Saturday didn't deliver in the end especially with next weekend turning milder now.

Glad to see some snow in the NW today but incredibly frustrating to constantly see the band just north of here and then when it finally arrived we got cold rain.

Plain old rain here that's reached. Poor show!
-
Even more painful the edge of the snow band is on the Nantwich bypass. I can literally see the back end of the system.

This is painful, I can see the dark clouds but it just keeps going north and Northwich gets a plastering instead.

I can yet again see the dark skies to the north but know it won't touch here. It sounds a bit drippy outside as it's now above freezing.

The skies are very dark to the north west but I can't tell on the radar why as it shows things fizzling out.

A few flakes fell and then it fizzled out. Close but no cigar.

We have the first flakes falling in bright sunshine!
I will be satisfied to see a small covering as that would be two years of lying snow on the trot and my expectations of moving from snowy Stoke with elevation to low level Nantwich were low.

It's certainly dipped south, will it make here though. I will take a CM or so just to take the edge off the ice !

Heavy snow, -1 2C.
Are we expecting this to turn to rain like yesterday as the sun comes up shortly?

Send some down!

Really need some snow to cover the ice. Looks like no chance of that streamer heading this far south:-(

Been stuck at -8 for a few hours, doubt we will reach -10. Any normal winter of course -8 would be good!
