Not been above freezing all day here, warmest I saw was -0.8C, thick fog all day, crisp underfoot, certainly be interesting re any rain or snow we get later, temp falling away nicely now.

Some further developments on the far western fring of this large MCS. Maybe something even closer to home for us in Bristol/Bath/Gloucester next hour or so if it becomes electrified.

One of the big issues in the contrasting weather we have had this summer is now showing up in spring barley crops on sandy or gravelly soils in this area as ripening crops have large patches of fresh green crop emerging .This is what is known as second growth as plants put up secondary tillers when moisture levels in soil return to normal as the drought from June eases. This is going to cause some very poor samples this harvest. Not unusual but have never seen it on this scale before perhaps 20% of a field
Yes, have the same here on brash with clay caps, sprayed a load off the other day, not that I wanted to but needs must. Think the mobile drier will be busy when we eventually get going. Shades of 2012 here already.

Well, not had a day like yesterday for some time, continuous heavy rain all day, emptied the rain gauge @5pm on Thurs eve and tipped out 37mm last night at 6pm. Some very heavy showers passing through, bright sunshine one minute then torrential rain the next with hail too, very black indeed to my West towards Cirencester

Had two very heavy showers, with hail already this morning, sun out one minute, hammering down the next, that's on top of the 37mm rain we had yesterday. Not heard any thunder yet but the RIAT is on and at least they seem to be flying today, pitta the poor people there yesterday.

Perhaps a small chance for a few rumbles in the rain for southern areas overnight.
There's line convection in the SW now.
Very heavy rain here in Glos currently, not seen any lightning or heard any thunder, yet.

Can hear regular thunder here to my South, very dark sky, constant rumbles.

Total cloud cover is now burnt off here, temp climbing nicely. Be interesting to see what occurs later

Unlikely to happen here again. Way too cool and cloudy
Yes, same here, total cloud cover and spotting with rain most of the morning! It may burn off, fingers crossed
