  1. For southern coasts the shipping forecast, at 17:25, has the area from Thames all along the south & South west coast, through the irish sea to shannon the winds reaching storm force 11 at some point, so I wouldn't be suprised if a red warning along the south coast appears at some time tomorrow. definiately not a day to go sailing.
  2. The coldest night of the winter for me last night. down to -5c but a lovely frosty and crisp morning.
  3. Ive actually seen our first few snowflakes of the winter. the temp has gradually fallen during the morning, from 6c at 7am to 2c now. DP now 1c
  4. a large cumulo-nimbus to the south of us, probably near redhill, and a rumble of thunder. clear here and humid
  5. It has been rumbling with thunder for an hour and a half but the storm/rain has finally arrived. it might save me having to water the veg patch tonight.
  6. Very humid now. I can see the convection building nicely to the east and heading off down towards East Sussex and Kent. Dry here though.
  7. My brother is in Edmonton, Alberta and they are predicting 39c possibly higher on Wednesday. The record for Edmonton was 37.2c set on June 29th 1937, so it looks like that record will be easily beaten.
  8. Its been a very misty / cloudy humid day here in coulsdon. currently pouring with rain and hence a little cooler, but absolutely no breeze at all.
  9. Hi Nick, definitely more snow than I expected but a nice covering here in coulsdon as well.
  10. another dusting overnight and a beautiful cold and sunny morning. Very crunchy underfoot, but it looks like it will be back to sliding in the mud for a short while next week!
  11. You can tell it is cold across the country, we are using every means possible to generate enough electricity!
  12. up on the north downs in the sunshine and you could see the bands of showers to the north over london and to the south towards kent/sussex. We were in the clear spot today, although we did have the very odd flurry
  13. The other thing worth noting on the fax chart is the low pressure out west that is forecast to come across at the weekend (possibly) to bring the mild weather. it showed as being 960MB on Sunday and is now 970MB, so with each run it is filling. it might make it harder for it to push against the cold air.
  14. The latest met office video weather forecast does mention that there is milder air trying to get into the uk at the weekend, but that there is to much uncertainty at the moment to say if this will happen. So although the models are tending to show this, i suggest that the human element might take a more pragmatic view of the speed of progress it makes if any at all.
  15. snowing steadily here for the last hour in varying degrees of intensity. Having been out now we had around 2cms overnight. the top of the downs now has a good covering that gives that nice crunch underfoot when ou walk on it.
  16. We’ve had about 1cm overnight by the look of it. The road is definitely fully covered now.
  17. A definate increase in shower activity in the last 15mins and much bigger flakes now.
  18. very heavy snow shower at the moment, and some larger flakes, the road is covered again now.
  19. Very icy out, not surprising really, but considering this time yesterday the downs we covered in soggy and waterlogged mud, this morning the whole lot is frozen solid, and not just on the surface but deep down. just goes to show how penetrating the wind has been. light snow shower at the moment.
