  1. the ist sign of winter here this evening as I had to scrape the ice off the windscreen. temp 1.6c
  2. Just the 30.2mm of rain so far today, so that takes the total to 155.8mm and we are only halfway through November
  3. soggy morning so far. 21.6mm to date but the majority of the heavier rain looks to be moving fruther east now. Still a couple of hours of rain to go so perhaps 25-30mm in total by the end of the day.
  4. We had steady rain for about 1.5 hrs and we've totalled 5.6mm so far (more than in the last 3 months!). Currently overcast and although the radar showed light rain passing over us around 2pm, none of it made it to the ground. We had a couple of rumbles of thunder earlier, the actual strikes were to the east over Woldingham, but none since. Another band of light rain approaching soon. temp 20.2c RH 85%
  5. The radar is currently showing us under the very light rain, but so far it's that light its not made it to the ground yet . I think we will get the heavier rain soon though.
  6. Rain..... what is that (come winter i'll regret saying that) It is another warm sunny day with mid 20's temps. So far in July i've recoded 0 rainfall. we had a brief bit of mizzle at one point but not enough to measure. Walking over the north downs today and the grass (straw) just crunches under your feet. There are a few burnt patches around where fires have broken out but luckily they have been extingushed before they caused to much damage. Looking at the forecast it is looking like it will be a completely dry month and that follows June where there was just 0.2cm rain.
  7. We peaked today at 38.2c , but now down to 28.5c and very dark clouds are upon us + a rumble of thunder
  8. We are currently at 34.7c as at 10:40. it took until 13:20 to get to that temp yesterday.
  9. I'm pretty sure the overnight low record will have gone. This is the local met office weather station to me (about a mile away). i'm sure there are probably warmer ones as well in central London
  10. some strange temp fluctuations overnight. 10:30 last night we had the lowext temp of 21.2C by 11pm it had gone back up to 24.2c then back down to 22.4c ny midnight. The temp then steadily rose to 26.4c by 01:15, then stable for 2 hours then down to 24c just before 5. slow increase until 6 and then steep rise, to the current temp of 29.4c. I guess there were some pulses of warm air being driven up from the continent.
  11. woke up at 5:15 and it was 25.6c outside. now we've just gone up to 29c. definately looks like today will be hotter, as predicted.
  12. temp peaked here at 35.3C today and now down to 30.8C, which thinking about it is quite warm for 7pm. the temperature drop though is very slow so the warm night that is expected is on the cards.
  13. Good Morning All, It seemed a refreshing start at 6:15 even though the temp was 18.6c and it has been steadily rising since then and has just reached 26C, here in Coulsdon. I feel sorry for the workman outside who for the next 3 days will be resurfacing the road (not sure its going to set quickly). I hope everyone enjoys' what might be a record day and manages to stay cool.
  14. With the ground bone dry in the south east, it doesn't take long in the morning for the temp to rise steeply, today it rose 10c between 6am and 7am, so given a nice clear day, im going to go for max of 39.2c at Northolt. (if the wind is favourable then Gravesend) next Sunday 17th.
  15. We are just having our first wintery shower. its very light but is mainly of snow flakes.
  16. Good Morning everyone, and for some a touch of winter Here in Coulsdon it started of quite bright and sunny, but over the last hour the could has started to come over and the wind has steadily picked up, but not greatly. the temp so far has risen from 0.7c at 6am to the dizzy heights of 1.8C now with a DP of -1c. The Radar seems to be showing all the activity to the north of London at the moment, but i'm sure the shower activity will pick up as the sun gets higher. we wait to see.
  17. Its been quite breezy here for the last couple of hours but about 20 mins ago it went very calm. i can see on the radar the squall line approaching, and the rain has just started, so i'm expecting it to liven up shortly .
  18. i see the fastnet lighthouse recorded a gust of 107mph at 7:20.
