  1. Looks dry and cold in the south to me, yep false cold apparently, but as far as me and my bills are concerned, cold is cold.
  2. Lol, you are calling conservatives socialist, as in some ways that's already started in the last few years. It isn't a political matter, however politicians do need to get behind it to help curb usage. It will not be done how you've said, it'll be done how we can already see, by changing what's available for use, non petrol/diesel cars, etc.
  3. That chart will be a lot colder than it looks, especially in the south, under the slack high, but even up north it WNW direction, not SW so probably not too warm.
  4. Probably not. It's all about the money re oil, and what it can produce, including plastics, and synthetic materials.
  5. I thought that was an impossibility when I read it to be honest. We've been about for over a thousand years for sure, so, thinking how many would have died even in that time, till now, has got to be more than are alive now surely.
  6. There alway a final warming, when the pv naturally dies, hopefully that's whats showing for march
  7. No never again after last year please, was freezing here, but wrong side of for snow, rather like not in fact, till June. Can do with out that.
  8. Lol, I just can't sleep, not even got my curtains open. Knowing my luck, I'll get up in the morning and somehow there'll be a covering, I could have watched falling.
  9. It wasn't swept away easily though, the cold stayed in place even while the uppers warmed, hence the freezing rainany got. It warmed after that though, but what happened to the real cold in the north east, scandi, not much yet, also part of the UK are still cold, and temps in many places are not cold enough for snow granted, but still chilly, and likely to stay that way till Friday.
  10. That moved East a bit right, if this one does that, it would be perfect.
  11. Problem is, we can't just sit back a relax just cause of China, who may we'll have a rethink soon anyway. They've had quite a few weather disasters of various types recently, they'll know they are not immune by now.
  12. It damaging to nature, I had a spring plant start growing in September, started flowing in late November, didn't get time to see what it would actually look like fully flowered, the winter cold over the week end killed it.
  13. Hmm I. That case probably rare for Dover, I've had covering two times in one year, Saturday this December, had o e last December too but later. I'm talking between seasons, there can be more than one snowfall a year here, quite often transient.
  14. Lol, where as here, its taken all this rain to recover from the year before. Water table is high now, it was low for most of the year. Not talking about the whole country, ps I didn't start the dry thread, but it was right about here. All of them are used every year.
  15. You do realise you've said exactly the same as me, with different words, right. Not sure there's a disagreement, just a misunderstanding. Re cold in the east this year, it is I think down to a circulation change, slowing of the gulf stream, allowing a fast re freeze away from the north Atlantic, due to less mixing of warm water in the artic region. Re the rest of my first post, all year we've had heat domes build, and lows hanging about causing both heat and cold records to be broken, more or less simultaneously, in different areas evidence for this is in you global records thread, plus flooding or extreme rainfall totals where troughs get stuck. Big question is though, is that down to change in ocean state, that happened this year re Pacific. Not sure it is, as the year before this had similar stuck patterns, just perhaps slightly different places.
  16. We'll this happened last year, December cold spell in about 20mins, during a very heavy shower that was mostly sleet. Even though it got rained on all day during London's pasting the next day, bits of it survived the week.
  17. You misunderstand me I think, both extremes are proof of climate change, and the planet is far warmer than it was even just 20 years ago, we are doing this. Everything is connected. The gulf stream slowing down is due to changes in our atmosphere, warmer Atlantic doesn't cause the same effects a colder one did.
  18. Not really on about global scale, just basically the quick refreeze in the artic, and the cold in the east, the are very much connected.
  19. Extreme cold doesn't disprove climate change, it is a symptom of it. Records will drop both ways, as they have been all year. More to do with slow momentum, and stuck systems, flooding will also increase for the same reason. For answers to the cold look north, factor in the slow gulf stream. Some say the wrong places are colder looking at it that way. However warm water is still heading up, just at a slower rate, so the normal mixing of the whole area would be different. So quick freezes away from where the golf stream is, would be expected.
