  1. Anybody in here used wood briquettes before? just found a big bag of them in the garage left here by the previous tenants. was thinking about giving then a go. weather wise its windy, sunny and now getting a tad cold.
  2. Next week looking like it could be shall we say a tad windy. mind it is the GFS and it does love to over do these Atlantic lows. something to keep an eye on.
  3. Given the GFS has a tendency to over do lows from the Atlantic i wouldnt get too worried yet, if its still there in a few days and other models are looking similar then maybe. something to keep an eye on.
  4. Just ordered a top up of the oil tank, the current price is 42.9p a litre. i asked how come it's that low and the reply was " it's the lock down in China" if you use oil for heating maybe a good time to book a top up.. oh yeah the weather. sunny windy and some place between cold and mild, not sure what you call that..
  5. RAIN... that's it im done with this terrible winter. bring on spring.
  6. Radar says Snaw but window says Naw.....
  7. Just plain old cold rain for me by the look of it.. fed up with this winter.
  8. This has probably been the worst winter i can remember in many a year. just day after day after day of south west winds and rain with the odd cold day. i really do that this is not a sign of winters to come. maybe we are just in one of them spells of mild winters and we will get a spell of cold ones still in a few years..
  9. That will be a fantastic Birthday present for me.. counting down the days till 11th Feb what can go wrong?
  10. Right guys and girls im back with yet another firewood question. my landlord turned up at weekend with several silver birch trees he cut down several months ago. iv'e split them (with my axe @Hairy Celt) not with my chop saw. landlord told me to stack them beside my stove to dry them out. this also along with several ash stumps he has had indoors for 3 or 4 years and a massive cherry tree too. the ash has been split and is burning nice and slow and hot. but how long do i leave the cherry and the birch before they are ready to go.?
  11. And as soon as it's to mild to snaw the precipitation comes rolling in.. thinking of changing my name to NO SNOW!!
  12. I had 3/4 of one somehow alive on my patio last week.. just does show how mild its been and not real cold spell just 24/48 hour then back to mild. and by the look of it it's all gone boobies up in the mad house after yesterdays charts of the winter and epic cold is set to gain and maintain with some other gumf.. be warned if you go in for a look at the charts etc as there does appear to be a lot of toys and prams flying about this morning.
  13. We have seen this so many times before in the past. GFS picks up on a trend while the others seem uninterested, they finally start sniffing around something similar to the GFS only for the GFS to then drop it the next run only to come back in line a few runs later. might not happen this time round but it wouldnt be a big shock if it did.
  14. it's getting hard to understand the utter gibberish being posted in the mad house tonight... it rubbish oh no it's not oh yes it is, then something about gains and momentum watch and wait see this see that.... how the hell is a semi normal person meant to make sense of it. i await another round in the morning.
  15. pub run is on the wagon this evening.. spoil sport.
  16. Boom charts from the 12z GFS. the beast is coming.. BFTE here we go. all aboard the looney train.
