  1. Bloody hell....it's the hope that kills ya.
  2. Sounds like something a midwife would say.
  3. Expect things will pep up for you guys as the evening progresses. As someone mentioned on the Mids thread, it won't continue moving east (only temporarily) but will soon pivot north west.
  4. To be honest, since I've moved up here in August last year. Plenty of people across the Black Country have mentioned that they/we often get snow each winter, and often used to read that Birmingham sees quite a bit of it. So whilst today might not produce the goods there's still another 5 to 6 weeks of winter left (guess like a lot of folk have been caught up with the talk of the SSW but GP mentioned today that end of Feb will be the period of interest).
  5. Lived in Poole for 10 years before moving to the Black Country in August 2018. Good luck to everyone in Dorset and across the South West. Hope you all see some snow.
  6. Good luck to everyone. Hope you all see some snow this evening and overnight. From a former South Easterner!
  7. Sod the snow. Going to have a shandy or two and a plate of happiness tonight (fry up) followed by a few episodes of The Punisher!
  8. Meh! Roll on spring. Grown tired these last 2 months or so of chasing significant cold and snow and that Canadian Lobe continues to be a pain in the proverbials. Scrabbling and scrapping around for a couple of cm's today doesn't do it for me and it now looks like it's all going to head into the SE and Central Southern England and Wales but some parts of the South Midlands look like they could get in on the act.
  9. Not sure but the general consensus on here and even by the Met Office themselves is that no one is really all that sure what the system is going to do. Seems very much a wait and see. South West Moors and Mid Wales both could do very well out this with West and South Midlands and down to the South East also seeing some snow.
  10. Only 24 hours away and reading conflicting and contradictory reports. It is pretty clear that no one has any real idea, for certain, how this is going to play out tomorrow. If you going into the SE thread then it seems that the system won't venture much 20 miles north of London. Yet another report indicates Wales will see a lot of snow and then another stating that Wales is going to completely miss out and if you watch the Met Office they seem to indicate it will be the South West, Wales, and parts of the Midlands and SE. As such, safe to say, the safest bet is simply wait and see what happens tomorrow evening and overnight. Because despite the billions of pounds of technology, Mother Nature still is and always will be one step ahead.
  11. According to Mark Duell of the Daily Mail we're all in the midst of a 'deep freeze' and it's a 'whiteout wednesday'. I wonder who's using the family brain cell this week in the Duell clan? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6647465/Black-ice-menace-roads-workers-wake-bone-chilling-3C-lows.html
  12. Get some decent cold locked in and then the opportunities will start. Hopefully today's models will continue to trend in the right direction of cold. Very cold!
  13. Keeping expectation levels low and if any snow does fall then it's a bonus. Do feel though that we may need some more bites at the cherry to get a decent event; and fortunately there's still plenty of winter left.
  14. Yep. Expect it will all come down to lamp post watching!
  15. As a former SE and born and bred resident of Carshalton. Pleased to read of reports in and around my old stomping ground and other parts of the SE. Enjoy folks
  16. Indeed. Even if we miss out on Thursday then there is still plenty of winter left before the spring.
  17. Maybe wait until Wednesday evening/Thursday morning before we know either way!
  18. Yep. The hype around the SSW has been ridiculous. Even noticed one or two posters a few weeks back (just before the non-easterly) mentioning a winter similar to 1947
  19. After my pant wetting a few pages back, we have had moderate to heavy snow for the last half hour.
  20. Some lovely sleet here. An upgrade on rain, at least.
