Tropical rain, thunder and rapidly evolving situation in SW London!

It's been mostly rain here today with just a hint of sleet in heavier bursts. Can't complain really as had 1cm covering early this morning which I wasn't really expecting.

-
We had some ice pellets for a while now just cold rain.

Light snow started here about 25 mins ago.

Haven't had time to follow to closely but seems to me like it's already pivoting? Would think most of London is in with reasonable shout here...

Plenty of lightning including lots of crawlers here but given how apocalyptic the squall looked as it came in from the south, slightly disappointed with the rain effort. It was much heavier this morning.

Can't complain here in Twickenham. Not quite in the craziest zone but plenty of thunder and heavy rain in last hour. Looks like it's regenerating too, on south side of that zone, and heading my way.

Thunder here! Wasn't expecting that!

Got very lucky with that SW London storm which seemed to peak over Twickenham. Biblical rain, hail and lots thunder & lightning. One of the best "cold" storms I have seen for years.

Well that was an epic storm! Biblical rain, hail, at least 15-20 big lightning strikes.

Does anybody know what the record is for the latest ice day in the south-east? Also the coldest April max?

Gardens and pavements covered again under light to moderate streamer. Can't complain given the general rubbishness of intensity over London today.

This has been an extraordinary spell of weather. Granted, I only have 0.5cm of windblown dandruff to show for it, but it has snowed (however lightly) almost continuously now for 48hrs which is quite something.

Had some proper snow here in Twickenham for 20 mins or so. Died down again though.

Snow shower incoming!

We have some moderate graupel type snow here which is starting to stick. Interesting.

Snizzle has picked up in intensity here a bit.

Light snizzle for the last 2 hours here in SW London. Looking forward to potential streamers later as we are not going to get anything settling from this frontal band.

Does anyone think North east London could miss out entirely?
It's very unlikely but not impossible of course that you will miss out entirely.

surely 2004 was the daddy for thundersnow - a near nationwide event as the squall front pushed south across the whole of the uk. Not a remarkable snow event in itself as was rain to snow - but a unique weather event in my memory.
Yes, that was insanely heavy, even though it only lasted a few minutes.
