  1. And still the never ending rain lashes down. My neighbour now has a pond in his garden. Would look nice with some koi. Hope the TUI B738 can be pulled out of the clag without too much damage. Until then the LBA remains closed. Lots of surface water and local flooding of side roads on the way home. Not a good day.

Some sort of weird orographic thing seems to be happening here where an area of cloud is constantly developing in place over us. There’s been blue sky to the W/NW all morning but it’s never gotten any closer.

I'm in Otley this morning and the sun is just starting to break through. Agreed though it looks much clearer towards the west.

  3. Overcast here and looks to be that way for the rest of the day so its the Met office 1 bbc nil for today. The rain over the Irish sea appears to be creeping ever so slowly eastwards extends as far south as north wales.

Yes indeed.  I think the age of motoring is coming to an end but nobody in government wants to admit it.  There is simply no way that everyone who wants one will be able to continue having a family car under present plans and the ability to travel anywhere at any time will no longer be an option.  Maybe shared / rented autonomous self-driving cars will be the norm in 50 years and everyone will look back at the old way of driving and laugh….!

  5. Watching the BBC weather (which is quite a rarity for me) on Tuesday tea time the presenter waved their hand over the bulk of England & Wales commenting 'thats it for rain' in the south of the UK as high pressure builds. Well Weds was a reasonable day, I'll give them that. Now we have rain bearing lows from the west for today & tomorrow. How can they miss those?

  6. I grew up in a house with no central heating and spent most of my early teens mooding in my room where the temperature inside was similar to the temperature outside. This was late 70's early 80's style.
