  1. That's what we had in Wembury. Gone back to dryer snow now. With hind site, it probably wasn't freezing drizzle in Wembury. It certainly didn't have that dangerous coating effect.
  2. It's diamond dust now I think, but pretty sure it was wet in the air earlier on.
  3. Wembury, SW Devon, 6 miles SE of Plymouth, 1 Mile from the coast I *think* we have freezing drizzle. It onlylasted a few minutes and now we have stunning ice crystals showing up in the torchlight. caiels.com/docs/IMG_1617.MOV
  4. Wembury, SW Devon, 6 miles SE of Plymouth, 1 Mile from the coast Brutal gusts of wind now blowing chunks of snow off the roofs. I think I'm going to make a pot of tea before the ice storm hits! Don't get me wrong - I'm not being negative. We had a crackin' day yesterday and I've never seen dry snow like it in the UK. I think we have lots more to come . . could be snow . . . could be rain . . . could be an ice storm. Good luck to one an all. Amber warning of snow updated to extend the boundary North East !
  5. Where have you put that thermometer! My weather station is saying -2.7c and I've not seen lower than -5c during this event. One of us is broken
  6. Surface air temp rising rapidly in Wembury, SW Devon the last hour If that carries on at that rate, it'll be above freezing well before midnight.
  7. It's still moderate dandruff here in Wembury. It is definitely still accumulating faster that it can sublimate. The hill is very difficult for 2WD and as I watch on the webcam, I think we have our first strandee! . . . . Yep - he has bailed out. The sheltered spots have an extra 2cm or so from the last 90 minutes, although it is difficult to be sure that hasn't been enhanced by drifting. wx forecast - Increasing clouds and cooler. 8. No live stream I'm afraid, but I have two on www.caiels.com that update every minute. They are in Wembury, 6 miles south East of Plymouth. 1 mile from the coast.
  9. Wow - you just beat me to it. My tipple tonight will be . . . . @BARRY Green is snow/rain I think, but it is a prediction and not a detection and the more knowledgeable on here say it should fall as snow over land.
  10. I think I'm guilty of that We had a good session yesterday in Wembury and every time I look out the window it seems the same - but actually, it's getting a little bit more stormy each time! My reference tree is sheltered from the easterly, but the wind is picking up here now. Temp has been rock steady at -3.6c for the last 2 hours.
  11. I'm not doubting it. I'm not having a wobble. But I can see lots of people getting caught out if this is as bad as the predictions. Wembury in SW Devon is calm. Very light snow and the sun is detectable through thin cloud on occasions. No wind to talk of. Maybe that's unusual looking at other posts, but if it's not, people are going to get caught out.
  12. Air Temp has dropped in the last 20 minutes. Only by 0.2c, but certainly no sight of the less cold air at ground level (as expected) Temperature : -3.6°C (Feels like -9.7°C) Dewpoint : -4.7°C Humidity : 92% Pressure : 990.9mb and Falling Rapidly over 3 hours Today's Rain : 0.00in Current Rain : 0.00in/hr Solar Radiation: 111W/m² (UV index : 0.0) 10 Minute Average / Gust Wind Speed * Direction 12.0mph / 22.0mph * Dir=ENE
  13. That first lump of green looks to be heading towards me,. If it stays green overland, Ill let you know what is *actually* falling Very light snow here in Wembury at the moment. It is definitely new snow and not just blowing around now.
  14. Annoyed I missed a great photo op yesterday. I was walking down Mewstone Avenue in bright sunshine with a snow speckled Great Mew Stone in full view. I don't think I've seen that before. No change here in Wembury at the moment. very light tiny flakes blowing around. Not sure if it is new or just blowing around. Temperature : -3.8°C (Feels like -9.4°C) Dewpoint : -5.2°C Humidity : 90% Pressure : 993.8mb and Falling Rapidly over 3 hours <--- That low is on its way
  15. I'm late to the party again tis morning. Horrible when work gets in the way isn't it Very light snow and calm winds here in SW Devon at the moment. Air temp -4.4c, DP -5.8c, 90% RH. Hence feeling much colder than yesterday. I'm off to scan from page 182 onwards to se what I've missed!
  16. Thanks. That's what I was hoping to hear before turning in for the night. So the rain in France is hopefully not the source of the Main Event.
  17. I hope it's not just wishful thinking, but it looks like that rain in France is moving in a more northerly direction instead of NE now. It still need to get pulled back a bit more by that easterly flow though if it is going to pummel Devon. Or is that not the moisture supply for the 'main event'?
  18. Looks that way. We are right on the edge of the radar and I can confirm a few flakes blowing in the wind again.
  19. A few cards are getting down, but it's getting worse with every shower (obviously!). I've only seen a quad bike get up! Garden looking stunning in the sun. 10cm" even snow coverage in the garden. I think that's pretty typical of the area.
