Play at Roland Garros stopped ahead of a severe thunderstorm warning.

These potentially "severe" thunderstorm setups can tease frustratingly, even in the most hospitable of environments, so any predictions will probably need to be taken with a slight pinch of salt until much closer to the event. I remember being in an office in the Ohio Valley, almost a year to the day, with the midweekly severe thunderstorm setup predicted by the NWS. Although predicted extensively in the days running up to it, the storm never seemed to show up until far later than predicted. I remember looking out of the office window to see bright blue sky and not a CB in sight... well, right until it was time to go home and soaked and pelted with hail in the parking lot! Also getting the TV severe thunderstorm warning "beeps" on the TV was quite a surreal experience. Also quite strange to also be sitting in the same office a week later, with the air raid sirens going off for a tornado warning, but no one else in the office reacting at all! Looking at the charts - warm, continental, humid air coming in from the SE battling it out against a cold front, with a strong jet overhead, huge CAPE values and lifted indices surely equates to quite a powerful and potentially dangerous scenario surely? Wouldn't surprise me if a strong(ish) tornado by UK standards is seen somewhere in the SE of England.

Out of interest, what is the criteria/characteristics of a "Level 3"?

Are Look East living in a cave? Just shown their 0655 weather graphics - apparently its rain/sleet mix. It definitely isn't here at the moment.

Nothing here yet, but looking at the radar, it can't be far away.

Without going into too much detail - light snow showers between 8-12 tonight, turning to snow showers until 9am tomorrow morning. Sleet showers after that. Only moderate confidence however. Most accurate forecast IMO.

Been keeping an eye on Tuesday for the last few days; seems to have had snow predicted for a while now - is that looking like a "good" day still for the SE?

Arrived here too. A cargo plane sounded like it got out just in time about 5 mins ago too.

Just watched the 19:57 News24 weather forecast - seems to be really downgrading any sort of potential here in the early hours of the morning - with lows of 2/3C?

I'm travelling to Yas Island next month - temps around the mid-high 20s? Also, any hints of places to go/eat etc.? My hotel is charging £27 even for a simple burger and chips, so I don't think I'll be heading there very much!

Looks like Heathrow Airport could be coming under a bit of a backlash at the moment for cancelling flights in bright blue sunshine! Close to being called a BUST this forecast.

Was always a strong possibility that something like this would occur, especially south of the river. Any chance of a tornado warning? I don't think so.

The thing is the players couldn't stay out there anyway - extremely dangerous in a big open field!
