  1. Some pretty sharp gusts here now, a few small branches down in the local lanes, chimney roaring. Not yet on a par with some of the storms last December/January.
  2. I wondered that too - the organised structure of it is over mainland Ireland at the mo, although it occurred to me that maybe the radar range may not extend that far off the southern Irish coast.
  3. Gusty for the last hour, mean speed picking up now too, coinciding with the main area of rain reaching here.
  4. Latest GFS suggests the low bottoms out before it makes landfall, so fills slightly as it crosses Scotland, and a sting jet hasn't been spoken about much, so 1987 comparisons are way off. I agree with Wivenswold - although varying between models, predicted gust speeds have fallen over the last few days for the Southern half of the UK in particular, and even the previously wild GFSP has backed off from its 150kph+ predictions in the Irish sea. It'll be lively, certainly, especially as the cold front moves through, but not horrendous.
  5. Try - http://www.wunderground.com/global/stations/03839.html - and then select 'Change Station' at the top of the page, just under the location. Should bring up a local list.
  6. If you've followed the GFS, GFSP and the ECM over the last week, and particularly the last few days, predicted inland gusts have gone from 75 to 60 or so.
  7. The predicted windspeeds for Weds/Thurs for southern England may have dropped somewhat, but given that it's a fairly swiftly-moving cold front (as opposed to the lively sector south of the low pressure area), I would've thought straight-line gusts would easily add 10-15 mph?
  8. Definitely dying down here now, longer gaps between gusts, mean windspeed less of a roar
