  1. As they are welcome here are two more for a quick glance at all the extra ice and snow! Can not see yet but Norway must of gone negative to positive in one day. more on the way? http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/+Norway+NOXX0109
  2. There is a lack of snow But a big build up of cold must be nearly as helpful? http://www.weather-f...none&type=lapse So a win win situation I think.
  3. No worries it will be back soon http://www.yr.no/place/Norway/Svalbard/Longyearbyen/long.html
  4. Less snow than in the last week http://longyearbyen..../flash/main.php go full screen!
  5. I remember driving in heavy snizzle and having to keep stopping to remove the buildup of ice, as bad to drive in as heavy fog.
  6. Radiating Dendrites are good too makes me think of the more spiky ones quickly radiating out.
  7. I take it a blast from Siberia would tend to be to cold and dry for a good dendrite.Would anyone know what the outside temp and humidity percentage I will be looking for after hearing snow was forecast to have a decent chance of seeing a large dendrite? I know wet snowflakes can clump together but I'm sure I've seen single ones up to 10mm before. Found the following example on the web wonder if these weather tools are freely available? 12z Skew-T from GYX shows cloud-top ~-18°C...the cold edge of favored stellar dendrite growth region. Note the strong warm-air advection near 700 mb acting on the elevated moist layer where mixing ratios reach their maximum value
  8. Ice..Big Increase Snow..Siberia gets better and better Why do I like snow? Because it's magic! http://www.its.calte...alike/alike.htm
  9. Was a bit nippy in the mainland i.e Same latitude as the other side of the English Channel but reaching on one day a -18C mean and 1800 people recieving hospital treatment http://www.kyivpost.com/content/ukraine/ukraines-cold-weather-death-toll-hits-131-121853.html http://www.wunderground.com/history/airport/UKKK/2012/2/12/DailyHistory.html?req_city=NA&req_state=NA&req_statename=NA
  10. To add my thoughts Siberia has a really big effect on the northern hemisphere's climate and Siberia always gets a good cover of snow and then the other weather factors have knock on effects for places to the West and South West of it.Talking of snow its nice and steady on the snow cover increase in Siberia with a noticeable difference on two days ago , with some extra still for Eastern Russia. Any negative amounts of snow on the map is now generally more broken up. Not so in North Canada but the US is making up for that. Ramp Alert :-) http://www.dailymail...o=feeds-newsxml Big change from a week ago.
  11. Natures reactions to the weather are one way of seeing what's going on
  12. If it gets to Lincoln I will make it my screen wallpaper for a week....and then bin it!
  13. Really nice eye candy that just needs to move 50 miles north to reach me. meaning DaveMac82 that the 1mm of FI snow is south of here near Peterborough
  14. Really nice eye candy that just needs to move 50 miles north to reach me.
  15. That's true CM was hoping for some interest as things look to be a bit slow in the usual places for a little while...but this forecast seems to spoil the fun http://www.yr.no/place/Canada/Nunavut/Cambridge_Bay/long.html Bigger picture of Thursday and Friday's snow cover
  16. And a more gains in Canada to come it looks, as there is a forecast of nine days of snow for Cambridge Bay. http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/Cambridge+Bay+Canada+CAXX1205
  17. It will be fine Tony! regardless of change keep your Interesting Judgements coming. "Many Thanks for those comparisons with 2008. Whilst the time period I am interested in is 30 days away, we are not a million miles away from a similar pattern developing, in my opinion. What would be needed is a stronger build up of ice near Siberia and additional snowfall to spread further south and westwards towards our shores, simples! Even if October snowfall came about, it would of course be a transient affair. But, that is not what the analysis of this thread is all about, it is simply geared towards keeping our eyes firmly fixated to all points, North and East of us. Further ahead, this thread will certainly assist us on the long journey towards proper Winter."
  18. Only a few hours from the next map, but looking at what the weather has been today the blob I would say will be mostly gone. i'm interested in what a week to ten days of cold will result in for the ice and snowThe Siberian purples on the map look good http://www.weather-forecast.com/maps/Russia?symbols=none&type=lapse
  19. ] In compensation and a second best prize the high pressure could bring a few daily cold records http://coolwx.com/record/ It seems to have worked for this US weather station today http://weather.glads...y.net/site/KMEH The cold will help later snowfall yes? -11C Thursday predication http://www.weather.c...Russia RSXX5279 and then we hope it leads to things. Spread is more inportant than positive snow anomily (or is that the same thing) but nice to see some blue on this map for a change.
  20. Pleased to see one Russian city going for cold or snow for the next ten days http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Novy_Urengoy Maybe colder than -10C come Wednesday with that high pressure in the area. http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/+Russia+RSXX5279
  21. Looks like it had to in the last two Tuesdays just to keep up with the amount expected. Expecting some of that lake effect snow to turn up soon to help turn things positive , am I right bftv?! Is this lack now the new norm as the stewfox link would suggest to me. http://climate.rutge...ea.php?ui_set=0 Maybe I'm getting muddled! Tuesday week Yesterday
  22. The blob of snow has got smaller but after today's snowfall maybe there'll be more on tomorrow's update.
