Evening all.
The first event of the year is here at long last.
I have to be at work tomorrow for 5.50am (usually 9am!) for the elections.
shame that storms could be around these parts at 1-2am.
It goes without saying that storms come first, democracy will just have to wait.

I'm probably a bit too far south and west for the good stuff tonight (Worthing) but will head down to the beach to hopefully watch a show over the channel, maybe.
This set up seems par for the course:
1. Uncertainty
2. Except in France, where storms are nailed on.

Frosty hollows Why? The potential action later is elevated.

I'm already looking forward to the summer.
Sitting on the beach at 11pm, staring into the channel, looking for even the faintest flash of lightning, which stems from a raging MCS in northern France.
What even is snow?

So now the French steal our snow in Winter, and thunderstorms in the summer.
Its OK frenchies, we get it. The middle finger couldn't be any larger.

The bbc are going for 5 to 7 degrees next week.
Shame it won't be 1 or 2! Or lower!

Anyone under that squall line looks pretty potent
Been and gone within 10 mins. Biblical rain, small hail, gusty wind, and two flashes of lightning/loud claps of thunder.
Shame the squall wasn't a bit wider so it lasted a little longer!

Lightning and thunder observed, Worthing.

Pressure on the up....as is the wind speed.
The eye must have passed veery close by earlier.

Bit of a disappointment so far.
Apart from the low pressure...it's been a bog standard low pressure system here.

Are we saying that this storm could be worse than the one in Feb 2020?
I mean, that was WILD and I've never experienced wind like that before.

Thought I'd ask in here as a storm is being mentioned. I am out with a few friends in the English channel, the captain left in the dingy earlier. Do you think the waves will be high later? Before you answer though quick question, what's a rudder and is it bad if it's broken? thanks in advance.
Call your insurance company. They'll rescue you within 24 to 48 hours if you've paid for premium, or within 3 weeks if you've paid standard

Predictably after the MCS last night, today has been a day of cloud and clag.
Such storms are usually experienced at the very end of summer, the air freshens up and temperatures drop.
I hope that isn't a sign of what's to come this year...becuaee I suppose we are overdue a cool or cold summer, as since 2018 we've been treated to some glorious heatwaves!
