    No showers here, which meant I had to water the garden yesterday and whilst doing it the skies opened up for drizzle. Hubby said I looked a right numpty watering in the rain. But I'm at an age where I don't care. That's always worrying. We back onto an very small open park and have that happen. A few years ago I was woken by the helicopter overhead, got up to see what was happening and heard a noise and voices down the side of the building. Several police running down the side with dogs, straight into my garden and behind the compost bins they found the person they were looking for. All I could think of was don't tread on the butternut squashes! Your window reminder made me look around and I went to sleep with 3 top ones open in the living room, a small one in the hall, 2 larger ones in the kitchen, small one in the bathroom and small one in our bedroom. Hardly saying please try and get into our home!

    No, last night was just right for our evening BBQ for my sons birthday But the older he gets the older I feel! Today was a bit naff weather wise here, back to average weather again; a bit of blue sky, cloudy, passing drizzle for 5 mins etc

    Yes, just noticed that looking at the radar. Looks like my mum's going to get hit by that big blob coming over from France. It was lovely on the beach today there just a light shower as I left.

    Yep, I had the same, very disappointing.

    That's the one I use, but I started back in February as winter had been mild and do it every week. They would work better if put out every night but I don't like to use them too much which is why I collect them and rehome in the nearby woods. You may have more slugs than snails in which case I would use nematodes. Although they say use every 6 weeks when I've used them on other peoples gardens I find that it isn't necessary. Some spuds have tastier leaves than others, try different ones until you find which ones they don't like. I don't grow charlotte because I know I'll get a poor crop because the leaves will get munched before the spuds are grown. I'd love an allotment, I put my name down on the local one in '06 and found i was 104 on the list, this feb I was 93. I'll have moved or be dead by time my they offer me one. Onions are something I don't grow, not enough space. Gardening is the one thing I find totally relaxing, just wish I had a bigger garden, it's small even by London standards. This years challenge is watermelon grown without a greenhouse because I don't have one. I do like to try something new each year, but get the feeling I should have picked last summer for this challenge because so far, bar a few nice days, it's been to cloudy and wet, but we'll see. I've read every long range weather forecast I can find and they are all different this year so I'm guessing it's a wait and see. Is that the sort of epic that says I don't want to be driving on the motorway for hours during the day?

    Yep, had a few strawberries and raspberries, cherry crop is looking to be 50% of last year which is a shame, 1st baby green toms just formed and I've eaten 3 peas straight from the pod, didn't even make it to the kitchen with them, and more potatoes than we can eat at present. I have hundreds of snails, I go out at night, pop them into an old biscuit tin and take them to the nearby woods in the morning. I do this twice a week. The unlucky ones eat the organic slug pellets which I use once a week. I find copper tape very good for pots for keeping them away. I have lost a climbing courgette to them which miffed me. What we need now is months of wall to wall sunshine and temps around 25c, hot but not to hot. Too much gray sky and rain for me recently, especially as it's boring weather, damp, wet and mild.

    The big yellow ball was in the sky this morning, jumped out of bed, quick shower, breakfast and out into the garden to check. Yes it was blue sky, yes it had a yellow ball, yes the birds were tweeting and yes it was warm enough to wear a t shirt Was nice whilst it lasted, then in the afternoon the yellow ball played hide and seek with the clouds I did have my first tasty raspberry today and a strawberry too need a bit more sun please to get the rest to ripen.

    It showed me a glimpse of blue sky at 7pm does that count? It was a very small patch but at least I know it's there still, I was starting to wonder..........

    This weather is depressing. I'm fed up, my plants are fed up, the birds look fed up and even the local cat's must be fed up due to the fact that they've stopped using my veg patch as a toilet. I've tried listening to Pharrel Williams Happy song but that hasn't helped, I need real warm sun and bright blue skies and soon too.

    Spent a lovely day in the garden, digging, planting, sowing and potting on. Even when it clouded over is was still warm, bliss. The plus side of driving 80 miles to see my elderly mum tomorrow is ........she lives in a bungalow on a lovely sandy beach. And because there's no trains anywhere near her and only 6 shops it's almost empty. Busy would be someone sitting every 500 foot. It will be a touch cooler than London but still warm and sunny. I hope this nice weather keeps up all summer.

    If anyone's short of showers you're welcome to some of mine. Been in and out of the shed all day avoiding the heaviest ones. The wind keeps blowing over my fruit trees so I've tied them to the fence as a temporary measure and the grass is turning to mud again. I want my nice warm spring days back.

    Oh no, no storms tomorrow please, at least not after 1pm in Croydon. Don't want to arrive for my job interview wet and with hair looking like it's been dragged through a hedge backwards. Will I need a whole body brolly?

    As someone who has lived in many of the areas of the UK and knows to some extent who's weather is similar, I go with; Wales/southwest/midlands Ireland x 2 Scotland/ the ceneral and east coast areas of England East anglia/home counties/london/south east

    Nooooooooooooo, I'll never be able to sleep. I'm a creature of habit, change into PJ's, make a cuppa and read JP's weather report before going to bed, along with the other posts too of course. I've got a job interview on Friday (1st time I've had to do this for years and I'm so nervous because I want this job) and I'm going to need a bang up to date and accurate one please so I can dress accordingly. I may not post much but I do read every day, and I'm sure there are others like me. Was a wonderful day for pottering in the garden, well it looks a bit like an allotment at the mo, but everything is nearly in it's final place. Except for my watermelon seed, that's still in the packet for another week or two. I want a stonking hot summer with thunderstorms at night to cool things down to grow them without a greenhouse, but for now, I'll settle for the pleasant spring weather that we've had so far.

    Hopefully to say Sunday is warm and dry, if not sunny , so the garden can be used. Otherwise I'm stuck indoors with 24 other people saying Happy 82nd birthday to my Mother in law.

    It was lovely weather for a few hours this afternoon, sun on my back whilst potting on tomatoes, BNS and courgettes. The most relaxed I've felt for ages. Roll on summer.

    Daniel you live in the wrong part of south east london, it was lovely here this afternoon after a nippy start. Dark clouds rolled in around 7pm but that helps keep the temps up so I don't mind.

    When you have a garden of your own Daniel you'll understand why growers don't like any frosts now. Not all the crops by farmers are GM one's and those of us that grow our own have just plain old seeds that produce plants that get frost damaged. Even a light frost now will damage fruit tree blossom which means less fruit is grown which means prices go up. The weather affects not only our day to day lives but also our household food budgets. One of the many reasons I find weather interesting. Today was spent in my garden, with tomatoes potted on, and listening to baby birds calling from the nearby tree as mummy and daddy blue tits collect meal worms from my bird table for them. The sun was warm when it wasn't covered by clouds so all in all a lovely spring day.

    Thank you for checking. As I have windows 8 now it may take a while, took me all day to workout how to get on the internet! I'll ask my son to pop over and help his technically challenged mother who is stating to feel a lot older than her years!
