Lovely scenes here in Solihull, everything covered with a few cms of the white stuff. The roads are a slushy nightmare though.
Judging by the radar it looks like we had snow up until about 05:30 in the morning.
Not too bothered about what happens/doesn't happen over the next few hours, tonight and tomorrow morning is of much more interest personally.

And slightly further south we have sleet and rain. Not even a hint of settling snow.
Sorry to hear that. But as I said earlier, I think tomorrow night and Saturday morning will be much better for you

Really coming down in Solihull right now, great to watch. In the past hour it's started to stick as well.
Temp 0.6c, DP -0.2c

Try this... Real time snow radar....See what you think!!!.
Just click rain or snow on the left.
Just look at all of that juicy PPN heading our way!
It must be very slow moving if it's not supposed to hit these parts until much later tonight.

From a Solihull perspective, I'm concentrating more on Friday night onwards - anything tomorrow morning is a bonus.

Lovely Gubbely
Looking good for us, Dancer! Time to deactivate the Solihull Snow Shield

I don't think some of the Midlands will see much - the south midlands look like mainly rain.
Still time for that to change, Serendipity. Only a very slight shift required

The metogram for Knowle shows snow from Friday morning through to Saturday lunchtime, bar a spell of rain/sleet on Friday afternoon.
However, Stratford-upon-Avon and Worcester - not exactly a million miles away from here - are showing rain/sleet for pretty much for the entire duration.
Brain-scramblingly marginal.

Looking excellent for the W Midlands. Apart from the model output, experience from past events suggests to me this location along with N Wales will be in the firing line come the end of the week.
Not very often we see you posting in here TEITS, a visit from the NetWeather royalty
I sincerely hope you're correct about the West Midlands being in the "sweet spot".

Did anybody else see the Channel 4 documentary earlier in the week?
I watched it this afternoon and the footage of both the fireball and boom are astounding. However while most of the science seems sound
and extremely interesting, I got annoyed in the final part where the discussion went to creation/dinosaur extinction rather than the whole
programme focussing on this once in 100 year occurence.
Yes, I caught it on 4oD the other day - lot's of fascinating unseen (by me, anyway) footage.

-7.9C my min temp, coldest of year, since Dec '10
We got down to -6.4c here, coldest since the ice day on December 13th at the end of last year (-7.6c).
Impressive stuff for March.

That can't be accurate then with a max of 10c, nowhere else bar the suspect Coventry Airport above 6c for the WM this afternoon.
You may be right, I've always thought their max temps seem slightly on the steep side, albeit briefly.

In any case the high at Coleshill is only 5c.
I've been using Monkspath Weather Station (http://www.monkspathweather.org.uk/) ................which is now showing 4.8c lol

No I would say 9c is the upper limit, the air is freezing only a few hundred metres up and snow can survive, while the sun is only heating the surface atmosphere really. In June 1975 it there was sleet and snow with maxima of 9 or 10c.
Wow I genuinely did not know that, I've learnt something new - thanks TonyH!
In fairness the temp is fluctuating a lot this afternoon, barely two minutes after my first post it had fallen to 6.3c

How bizzare - we just had a two minute snow shower outside, even though the temp is 8.2c.
I thought it was virtually impossible for it to snow much above 4.0c?

We've had flakes blowing about in the wind for a few hours now, but nothing is settling.
Temp 1.7c and a DP of -0.1c

One of the most persistently mistiest days I can remember here. Seems to be getting heavier too.

Amazing fact - parts of the Scottish Highlands were actually FOUR times warmer today than the West Midlands!
Under sunny skies, a maximum temp of 13c was recorded in NW Scotland earlier whereas here in Solihull we managed a piffling 3.2c at lunchtime.
I wonder when the last time was that happened? Not a common occurrence for sure.

Makes it more interesting if we think it was an anti-aircraft or interceptor missile.
I love the animated gif in your signature, Watcher

I'm off to Berlin later today until late Thursday and its looking like ill get one last cheeky snow event whilst I'm there . It is looking cold in the midlands by Friday though?
Yep, cold but most probably dry as well.
Enjoy Berlin!

Any ideas of what this other object could be tracking across the path of the meteor?
Could be anything really - even a fly on the car windscreen.

There are still a few slithers of snow left here as well, in the shade of course. Will be gone very soon I presume.

Can't believe the GFS failed to predict this.

Can anybody point me to a link which shows what the 850's are in real time?
Would be nice to be able to watch the cold uppers move across us all later.
