  1. Local radio are predicting heavy rain turning to snow for Birmingham & surrounding areas tonight. Currently overcast with very little breeze, temp 3.6°C with a Dp of 2.3°C Bish
  2. Ohhhhh yes please! Where is that graphic from, if you don't mind me asking? Bish
  3. When I checked first thing this morning, my local weather station had a forecast for Solihull of 'Rain turning to snow' for this afternoon and 'Heavy snow' for this evening and overnight. It's now changed to 'Rain mixed with occasional snow' for both forecasts..........right on the borderline here, I reckon. Good luck everyone! Bish
  4. This all seems horribly marginal to me. Best to expect rain, then anything more than that is a glorious bonus! Bish
  5. Same here, in fact we haven't dipped below 10°C for over forty eight hours now. Bish
  6. I really don't mind December being rubbish so long as January and February deliver copious amounts of cold & snow In fact, I'd even settle for a poor January so long as February gives us something worthwhile. Bish
  7. Still extraordinarily mild here, currently 12.5°C Bish
  8. Currently 13.7°C here, and increasingly windy. High of 14.1°C just after one o'clock this afternoon, low of 12.1°C before half past six this morning. Previous highest low daily temps in recent years (Dec-Jan-Feb only): 05/02/2011 11.1°C 20/01/2008 10.9°C 04/02/2011 10.4°C 14/12/2006 10.2°C 31/12/2011 10.1°C Bish
  9. Just had a brief wander around Llanwnnen courtesy of Google Street View. Nice part of the world you live in, Tony. Bish
  10. There must have been some big regional differences last night - we only managed a low of 1.1°C Currently 6.7°C with hazy sunshine. Bish
  11. I started reminiscing about the January 2013 event earlier, after I posted the icicles picture. A classic example of how the models can very suddenly switch, once they pick up a signal. Also scene of Ian Brown's hilarious 'WTF' post The March 2013 snowfall was just as memorable, not least because it nipped in the bud this ridiculous notion that, once mid-February is passed, it becomes virtually impossible for snow to remain on the ground for any length of time due to the power of the sun. Utter tripe, but it was wheeled out with tiresome predictability by the usual suspects in the Model Discussion thread. Bish
  12. Just to whet the appetite, here is an amazing picture taken in Knowle during the January 2013 cold spell. Following a period of heavy rain, the passing cars splashed water onto a roadside hedge. Once the freezing air arrived shortly afterwards, these amazing icicles were formed: Bish
  13. Most enjoyable post of the winter so far, thank you Steve! Bish
  14. Beautiful pictures from the very aptly named Derbyshire_snow, thank you for sharing them with us Currently 1.6°C here with a Dp of -1.8°C Bish
  15. Could well be problems with ice later, with all that moisture from last night still around. Currently 4.3°C with a Dp of 1.9°C Bish
  16. Good to hear it's nothing too serious MIA. I work at Solihull Hospital, I guarantee you will be very well looked after there The rain seems to have eased somewhat, for the time being anyway. Temp is now 6.1°C with a dp of 5.2°C Bish
  17. I wonder if evaporative cooling might come into effect at some stage? It certainly seems to be coming down hard enough. Bish
  18. Absolutely tipping it down here. Temp is 5.6°C with a dp of 4.4°C Bish
  19. Was woken up at 06:30 this morning by the sound of torrential rain lashing against the roof. Quickly blew through however. Currently 4.1°C with scattered clouds. PS good luck with the scans MIA, nothing too serious I hope.
  20. You're beyond salvation I'm afraid, MIA! Bish
  21. What are your thoughts/expectations re January onwards, Tony? Or do you generally not look that far ahead as a rule? Bish
  22. Certainly On a serious note, imagine what the forum would be like if we started seeing charts like this soon! Bish
  23. At risk of sounding terribly thick, but can somebody please enlighten me as to what the term "Sceuro" means? Scandi Euro? Southern/Central Euro? Bish
  24. The charts all look rather underwhelming at the moment, bar those covering the Strat. Green Christmas, anyone? Bish
