Probably another couple of inches here in Hinckley, although I haven't been out to measure. I'm meant to be having a driving lesson in a couple of hours. I suspect it might now be in doubt!
-
Definitely north west for me.
-
It's just beginning to settle now in Hinckley. If it carries on for as long as the local weather forecast suggested earlier we could have a good accumulation by tomorrow evening. I already have this down as a good winter for snow in Leicestershire thanks to the one outstanding event we had. Another even half as good as that would be brilliant. Then it's roll on some spring warmth for me.

Enderby, Leicestershire reporting in... it's sleet at best. rain with slush in it more like. Nothing sticking.
It's snow in Hinckley, as far as I can tell. Not settling though.
-
I think some Leicestershire folk are forgetting the brilliant event we experienced a couple of months back. We did very well indeed. Anything at this time of the year is a bonus. But it's looking good anyway. The local news just painted a very white picture with the best of it coming through the early morning and tomorrow. It's very early days yet.

going to coventry later whats it like that way on anybody please.
Coventry was barely hit last night. By the time I arrived at the office in Coventry there was only a bit of snow on the grass. None elsewhere. Back in south west Leicestershire it was much the same story at about 7am. I think tonight was always going to be the more promising event for thise central Midlands areas, though.
I'm in no position to complain whatever happens. We had a brilliant snow event back in late January (I think - I might have the dates a bit wrong!). Certainly the best I've seen in getting on for twenty years and the snow stayed on the ground for a couple of weeks all told. Anything is a bonus at this time of the year although I can't pretend I'm not looking forward to the possibility of winter going out with a bang. That said, I'll be happy for the winter to disappear after this event. I'm craving a bit of warmth. The forecasts I've seen don't give the impression I'll be getting my way any time soon though.

Looks to my relatively untrained eye that there's still more to come over the next few hours. There's a band of precipitation north west of London that's got our name on it.
Yep. We look set for a few hours more, I'd say. Like you my eye is untrained though!
-
We've had some really quite unbelievable luck today. It looks heavier than it did the last time I looked, a little while ago now.
-
The radar suggests that we've had our fun, at least for now, in the central Midlands. Absolutely no complaints from me, though. I can't see enough of what's out east to see whether any more is likely later this evening.
-
The last few radar returns don't look particuarly encouraging tbh.
I'm content as it is now. I'll happily accept more but if it doesn't come, it doesn't come. We've done extremely well.
-
if that's the case we currently could just be seeing a lull before more heavy snow.
I not sure how reliable they are generally but they've been petty good over the last few days. There still looks to be quite a but coming down, it's just finer stuff. I'll take this as a lull.

The BBC are now going for heavy snow between 6 and 7 in Hinckley and have extended the snowfall from 5am until 9am. That suggests to me that this thing is behaving differently to how they expected and that they are having to do some serious thinking on their feet.
-
It has eased off a bit here but it is still coming down steadily. It's more difficult to see with it getting dark but it's still most certainly there.

Wow, this is brilliant! Every year, the snow has just missed us but we have hit the bullseye this year. There's currently a conveyor belt of snow headed our way for the next few hrs at least and the roads are all completely covered again. This has been my best winter for the past 10 years plus! No day off work tomorrow as I live so close but it'll be great to get loads done as it'll be quiet and I can keep looking out at all that lovely snow while I'm doing it.
Great, isn't it? I'm nottoo far from you, over the border in Hinckley, and we've been extremely lucky. As you say the radar shows the stuff being chucked at us from the east for some time yet.
-
The BBC has now expanded the heavy snow period in Hinckley to 4pm until 6pm instead of 5pm until 6pm.
-
5cm of fresh snow in Burbage now. Looking at various models there is a suggestion this could go on until the morning? Anyone else agree? At that rate we could get another 10 cm.
It will mean a day off work, that's for sure.
-
Sure has lee imo for Hinckley its got to be on par with 1991 now altho im basing that on pics as I can't really remember. (Andy) Shame you can't upload direct from mobile as I have a few decent pics. over Foot long icycle off the conservatory
This is certainly one to remember. And to think we could have hours more snowfall yet. I have photos on my iPad but no idea how to upload them.
-
It has got heavier again here.
-
All surfaces are now being covered again here. Although having said that anywhere with snow has been all day which is most areas just the odd place here n there which if wasn't covered by 10 only nw seems to be covering up. Anyway getting on for 4cms in general from today
It's with us until 5am before kicking off again for a couple of hours between 7am and 9am according to the BBC. If that's the case it's going to look interesting tomorrow morning. This weekend is already the best event I've seen in ten years in South West Leicestershire.
-
The BBC symbol for Hinckley has changed from light to heavy snow between 5pm and 6pm now.
-
It is definitely heavier now. Patches where cars were not very long ago are beginning to turn white quite quickly.
-
Here also, temps at -0.7 with a dewpoint of -1.3C
Hasn't really intensified here, but have noticed over the last half hour or so that the wind is really picking up and starting to blow the snow about much more; even coming off the rooftops again like the other day.
It has instensifed slightly here but the rest rings true for my bit of Hinckley. I can't say I've noticed any issues with it settling although I haven't been paying particularly close attention. It won't be too long befoe the temperature starts dropping, I should think, so it should cease to be a problem soon enough.
-
I'm not sure. It won't have to become particulalrly heavy if it persists until the early hours, which seems a possibility.
-
It seems to have got a bit windier here. Snow is blowing off rooftops like it did on Friday. The next three hours or so will see the heaviest snow if the BBC forecast is anything to go by.

I can echo what others have said in this thread. This winter has been brilliant for sow. Possibly my best ever. Late 2010 was better for deep cold but we missed out here on the best of the snow that winter. Back in early January I was thinking the season would be a write off.
I do yearn for a bit of warmth now, if I'm honest. As much as I like the cold I hope this spell doesn't go on too much longer.
