  1. I read it as a downgrade. No mention of Easterly winds and no specific mention of snow. It's certainly more vague. At that range it's unlikely to be correct so not going to worry about it too much.
  2. Managed 2.4 today with lost of frost still around. Now just above freezing. Nothing very exciting on the MAD thread in terms of cold weather for the rest of Jan apparently. Some are even writing off the first 2 weeks of Feb . The models were keen on some sort of Scandinavian high a few days ago but seem to have dropped the idea.
  3. Looks like we will miss the worst of it, not much rain but still pretty windy with gusts up to about 50mph Sunday night into Monday morning. Still -1.6 rising slowly. Lovely and sunny. Temperature for Saturday has been trending down now only predicted to reach 5. So hanging onto the cold for one last day.
  4. Wow! I'm not that far away and "only" managed -5.1, which isn't bad for here and the coldest this winter. Got down to -9 last winter but that was with snow cover. Without snow cover -6 is about as cold as it gets.
  5. Thanks for this Tom. I Remember the 1978 one just. The wind was howling and I remember looking out of my bedroom window at night and seeing the snow snaking down the road as it was drifting. The houses at the end of my street, facing the wind, had drifts up to their first floor windows. I was living in suburban north east London at the time.
  6. There is a weather warning out for snow for the north of our region for overnight and into tomorrow morning. 1-3cms of snow possible across Norfolk from showers moving down the north sea.
  7. Currently -2 after a low of -3 at 4 this morning. Since then has clouded over. I'm missing the sunshine. I know. What were we thinking eh, expecting a proper snowfall in January of all months?
  8. BBC weather just said 20 to 30cms in parts of Belgium and Germany grrr that could have been us. The system has been given a name by the French as well, Irene apparently...
  9. The models aren't going help us out. I think the only hope is if we all stand on the south coast and breathe in at the same time.
  10. Yeah you watch all the model runs it looks like it's heading on a collision course then changes its mind and makes a sharp right and starts it's love affair with the channel.
  11. GEM and JMA just about manage it. The others are doing their improbable following the contours of the coastline act. A very very slim chance this will amount to anything for anywhere in our region now.
