The flat monotone cloud here has started to get some texture in it which suggests it is being stirred up a bit and starting break up.

I see the storm in in the channel trying to tease us but the charts suggest the active area won't cross onto our shores.

Back for another year of frustration
Some activity coming out of Cherbourg hopefully it will it will make it this far.

I have just had a drive around the effected area on Hayling, It seems they have done a good job of cleaning up, not much to see really, except for roofers mending roofs. There were a couple of film crews in the area but I think they have missed the story. There were a couple of beach huts lifted off there foundations. My first house and third house saw no damage all the my first house was very close to the path, round 20 meters or so.

There is some nice convection around Coventry at the moment.

Can confirm a storm has just passed over Chichester with a couple of flashes of lightning. Next door can confirm it too as I sprinted to the car and ran straight into her knocking her over.

Really Kate a huge precip cell has passed me down at Worthing and I am sure it would have reached you by now. Radar shows it has started to reach you now. But it does look to have weakened a littledry here in billingshurst sussex....at the moment!

Dymchurch (where else lol)...though judging by Roger Smith I might be making an error.....who knows lol!! We had spectacular lightning Monday night and we were on the edge of proceedings....still might get good lightning from the continent later if all does stay off shore. What is also promising is that estofex have elected not to alter the zones highlighted this morning!!!
I might see you over there mate. Where do you park?

Famous last words indeed. I moved from Warwickshire on Monday evening and missed everything that happened over night. Although I did have a problem with my camera hence leaving so not too upset The problem has been rectified now though so bring it on.

Can't believe anyone is writing anything off at this stage...gobsmacking to be honest!!
Sadly people writing it off on here is more predictable than the storms. The day has not even started yet. I was thinking I would head for Beachyhead earlier this morning but I am waiting to see now, it is shaping up nicely.

I thought I would share an image I took back in 2009 of the weather station we used whilst deep in the Jungle, near a Macushi village called Surama, Guyana in South America.
The Macushi People are indigenous People of the Amerindians. It was great to live along side such wonderful people deep in the jungle. Learning from them, their forest skills.
Guyana has the most natural and untouched tropical rain forests on the planet, with creatures near extinction in other parts of South America but in abundance in Guyana.
We had thunderstorms most afternoons and well into the night, but sadly under the forest canopy it was hard to watch a good storm. -
If my memory serves me correctly each model run is not an update of the run before but an update of the same run 24 hours before. I believe each run uses different parameters and data hence why each run can look so different from the one before. I.E. the 06z run is and update of the 06z run before it. The 12z run will have different data added to it and will update the 12z run before and so on.
I think I recall john Holmes explaining it to me years ago and he said what data is used on each run. Some runs are better at showing one parameter than another such as precipitation. I also seem to remember a sticky post listing the advantages and disadvantages of each run?
As I say i am trying to go on a failing memory so maybe John or someone else can correct me if I am wrong.

My favorite Location for me is Larkhill Skew-T, But they only send a balloon up when the range is active or there is a weather course on. The best thing is they send the balloon up at times that is convenient to them for the activity on the range, which normally means early mornings and sometimes early afternoons. Today for instance they sent a balloon up at 0600 and 0900.I did my weather course at Larkhill so know their process. I find it upsetting that soundings are made less and less these days, models are not the answer the atmosphere needs to be sampled.

I've had a look at a couple more as well and they all peak about 18.00hrs, which coincides with some of the charts. You're right though, tomorrows actual 12z Skew T for Herstmonceux will be the best guide, but we will all be glued to the radar at that point anyway.
I didn't think Herstmonceux had done a 12z for years now.
