  1. I think it’ll happen personally and we will get a drier and brighter working week, I’m just unconvinced it has any longevity to it and is a precursor to a proper pattern change. Beggars can’t be choosers though and I’ll take whatever fine weather is on offer, just speaking as someone with kids, it’s a shame it couldn’t come over the BH weekend. Still, I’m going to attempt a day trip to Weymouth on Sunday anyway, regardless of weather. Got to get out the house at some point.
  2. Another cloudy, wet day here today. It just feels never ending. I know there’s an increasing chance of improvements and some fine days next week but that doesn’t change the fact it’s still grey, wet & depressing out the window now. It also doesn’t change the fact I yet again, have to find ways of entertaining & exercising the kids & dog in showery, damp conditions through the BH weekend. I really really hope next week turns into a lengthy period of warm, sunny weather & doesn’t get cut short or downgraded to a few days like previous promises have. Really need a break from the colour grey!
  3. Spam Fritter & chips? Cod & Chips? Battered Sausage & Chips? Cheesey Chips with a pickled egg? The suspense is killing me, what did you get Beka?
  4. Always nice to see an early start to the storm season. Let’s hope it’s the start of many future events.
  5. Also, it appears much of the West Country has a recently issued, MetO Yellow advisory for thunderstorms early hours;
  6. Drizzling here, usual grey landscape. Really hope the forecast settling down and higher SLP next week also brings clearer skies and sunnier skies. Really don’t want a dry, but overcast & cloudy period again.
  7. Whilst we wait for Spring & summer to arrive, here’s a happy thought….. It’s 4 months until meteorological Autumn starts. We haven’t exited last years yet!!
  8. Another crap, dull, overcast start to the day for the western side of the country. 50 shades of grey continues.
  9. It’s not much better further up the M5! It’s cold, it’s cloudy & it’s grey as per. Fingers crossed we get really lucky by the end of the week and we get some slightly warmer, cloudier, grey, dull days to enjoy!
  10. These grey, dull skies are just dragging on & on & on aren’t they!? Not much change (give or take) with the working week ahead either. Some optimism in longer range prospects but we’ve been here numerous times before so whilst nice to see, personally I’ll ignore for now. If improvements are still being shown by next weekend then I’ll take more notice & become more happier! lol.
  11. @TwisterGirl81 It doesn’t take much or long to dry out & harden top soil. Water doesn’t hang around there too long and soon seeps down to subsoil & bedrock levels. It’s why plants need watering regularly, even if the weather pattern isn’t particularly settled or dry.
  12. I totally agree with you there. We are definitely due something prolonged and above average after enduring a perpetual Autumn for what seems like forever. Trouble is warmer air and warmer SST’s allow more moisture into the air, develops more cloud and with winds sourced from the Atlantic direction being our default weather source, this equates to said cloud heading in our direction and more rain as we’ve been seeing for an age now. That’s not to say there won’t be exceptions or breaks in the pattern, there hopefully will, just that like getting snow in winter, it’s ruddy hard work!!
  13. In April you’re going to get plenty of days below 18c though as that’s normal for April. I’m not really a temperature monitoring person so maybe someone will correct me, but I’m sure the average April temperature for Exeter is slightly below 18c. I would totally agree that 18c in Summer would be poor though, especially within the recent warming trend.
  14. That’s probably a rare statement that both summer lovers & winter lovers will agree on!!
