  1. Yes, at one point the snow was very heavy here for 2/3 mins, eased of now but nice to see..
  2. Moderate snow showers here, with a little hail mixed in at times, feeling raw out.. Temp 0.5c Dp -0.3c Wind Chill -4.1c, N/N/W 14mph Can't beat a good ol N/Wly.
  3. "Long-term trends in surface temperatures are unusual and 2013 adds to the evidence for ongoing climate change," Scientists emphasize that weather patterns always will cause fluctuations in average temperatures from year to year, but the continued increases in greenhouse gas levels in Earth's atmosphere are driving a long-term rise in global temperatures. Each successive year will not necessarily be warmer than the year before, but with the current level of greenhouse gas emissions, scientists expect each successive decade to be warmer than the previous. http://science.nasa.gov/science-news/science-at-nasa/2014/21jan_2013/
  4. The MOD thread is terrible atm. Needs better mod moderation.
  5. Interesting thanks knocker, By he way if you click on full Editor you can amend there.
  6. Sunny spells this afternoon here now the Fog has lifted, feels chilly in the breeze, at work but i would guess 3/4c.
  7. Yes good to see you back to yourself Karl, We have been stuck in this pattern all winter so its understandable what with all the wild swings in the models and even the experts have been scratching there heads, but for now at least the charts are showing much colder evolutions within the reliable timeframe, with much more interest as we head into the weekend and next week for snow.
  8. Better heights over Greenland, and the Atlantic slowing a little more against the block, this should pull the Low further South.. Will we get a link?
  9. STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — THE overwhelming consensus among climate scientists is that human-caused climate change is happening. Yet a fringe minority of our populace clings to an irrational rejection of well-established science. This virulent strain of anti-science infects the halls of Congress, the pages of leading newspapers and what we see on TV, leading to the appearance of a debate where none should exist. http://www.nytimes.com/2014/01/19/opinion/sunday/if-you-see-something-say-something.html?hp&rref=opinion&_r=1
  10. There's some real knee jerk reactions in the MOD, Just over half way through Winter Lot's of potential from the N/W from the end of the week, we are not going to get an Easterly this time round, but it wont be back to the typical Atlantic we have had to endure so far this Winter, I expect lows to push further South this time round with a more disrupted Vortex pulling colder shot's of air down with them. Winter is far from over, unless you are expecting another 2010... EDIT; And we all know how that suddenly happened .

Lot's of now casting to come over the coming weeks is my punt. Winter is far from over, unless you are expecting another 2010...
  12. Very thick Fog down in the Valleys here, just driven through Bakwell and you carnt see anything but fog!, clear blue skys further up at my location..
  13. Yes Dale nice and calm here to, almost no wind at all. The Fog is starting to get thicker now creating lots of Hoar.
  14. A cold icy morning with Fog and a moderate ground frost, low temp -2.9c Temp -2.7c Dp -0.7c Wind Chill -0.2c S/W 0mph
  15. Looks like Daily fail has latched on to this story, This comment made me chuckle a bit 'I've been a solar physicist for 30 years, and I've never seen anything like this.' anyway... 16. What a load of gibberish crap.. "If the current cooling trend continues for a few more years, the theory of global warming faces imminent extinction. It will then join a long list of other expired environmental doom-and-gloom predictions, including overpopulation, peak oil and nuclear winter."
  17. The METO are indicating a typical UK winter month for the first half of Feb, with temps around average and a cold N/W flow giving snowfalls from the Midlands North over high ground. We all know from the past that these set-ups can deliver some surprises, and with the uncertainty of this pattern change in mind (of which im sure they have) we could be looking at something completely different by then.. "Some colder periods are likely, particularly between weather systems, with large variations possible day by day depending on the timings of weather systems."
  18. Much better Heights over Green/Iceland on the 6z. Pushing much colder air South over Europe into Russia.. Before it all goes a little awol as expected. It's really not worth looking at detail past D7/8 during these complicated times, Models really are struggling to latch on to the eventual outcome, as TEITS said early'er.
  19. It is, but it's from this point where the interest starts "25th".
