  1. Two decent days on the trot. Light winds and mostly sunny. Much better for my lunchtime bike rides. Today was a strange one, wind settled to calm and switched 180 deg while out. I set off with Force 2 W winds, and came back about 50 mins later with force 2 E winds. I assume it was a 'sea breeze' establishing itself. One side effect is temperatures, lunchtime it was about 18C, now pegged back to about 15C, but still very nice. I am now waiting for the other shoe to drop... Hopefully it will remain fine over the weekend as its 'Race the Waves' weekend in Bridlington, cars taking part were starting to marshall at Burton Fleming and make their way to Bridlington, saw (and heard) two whilst out on my bike.
  2. Well what a difference a day makes. After 2 nice days it came in misty last night quite suddendly. Woke this morning to sea fret, foggy and grey, 9C with a northerly wind. At least I managed to fill the second wood store and get the grass cut whilst dry and fine and before the next 'monsoon'
  3. summer blizzard There is a good video of a funnel cloud/tornado on Facebook, search North Yorkshire Weather Updates, I can't seem to link it here
  4. summer blizzard Looking at the radar there is some activity just to the west of Bradford, and on Facebook there are reports of funnel clouds
  5. Again today the wind was a pain, force 4-5 N, not the worst direction for my bike ride, but still annoying. Starting to dry up again after Sundays rain, and quite a bit of sun which has been hazy at times. 12C at lunchtime
  6. Last couple of days have been better, dry, and after a lot of early cloud today its turned out sunny. There is still a nagging on shore NE breeze that has kept it cooler today, but still pleasant. Lunchtime brought 12C with a backing SE wind force 3-4, and partly cloudy. Cloud now gone and sun properly out, its also warmed up a couple more degrees
  7. Looking at MetO figures it looks like 25mm+ rain fell yesterday over a large part of eastern England. I assume we are on course for a wetter than average month again. Today is better, just that the wind is a pain again, making lunchtime ride difficult. Wind S force 5-7, temps 12C and partly cloudy. Everywhere is now looking waterlogged after drying up a bit last week.
  8. Absolutely bucketing down this morning at the coast, cold wet and windy. We are having usual Sunday breakfast in Brid and all the old flood spots are reappearing.
  9. Wold Topper I was helping my sister in law move yesterday, fortunately the showers managed to miss Hull while loading and miss Brid while offloading. Based on recent weather it could have been a lot worse. A very heavy shower towards Driffield and a bright rainbow, but couldn't get a pic. Dry in Beverley and at home.
  10. A Face like Thunder Yes today has started with showers, which even had a few wintery bits in earlier according to Mrs Mike57. 5C, and a strong northerly wind this morning. I dont mind cold but this wind and wet just seems never ending this winter. Stove is lit and will be burning most of the day again.
  11. RebsAbbo Yes the noise from overloaded clogged mowers was evident in our village yesterday afternoon. I should have cut ours yesterday, but also had loads of other jobs to do. Needless to say we are back to the same old wet today. Still raining at lunchtime but appears to have stopped now. Cold at 7c. Cycling is off until Thursday due to bike needing repairs, a walk at lunchtime resulted in me getting wet.
  12. Not sure where that gale last night came from. Around 10pm really blowing hard, according to MetO max gust in Bridlington was 38mph, I would estimate 50mph + here. Not too bad this morning, some showers about but also some sun, but cold and still windy.
