EU's spend, spend, spend policies of the past 20 years really coming home to roost now!

      Isolated Frost

The world's neo-liberal policies of the past god-knows-how-long years are coming home to roost. Absolutely nothing to do with the EU entity.

      :/

  2. I'm going to have a little punt that 2013-14 will be one of the cloudiest winters ever

According to bottesford westerlies bring sunny winters and nasty cold easterlies bring dull weather so you're going for a cold winter IF :)

  3. I loved the snow, but experiencing a little sun-deprivation... hopefully another cold spell can arrive in Feb, this time with plenty of snow AND sun! Is it just me who's starting to feel they want a bit of Spring and Summer...?

I have, lovely place, very sunny relative to the rest of the country, friendly people, most of the county doesn't experience heat however. I hate heat so I wouldn't care, but I'd miss getting more frequent snow and frost. :-P

Yep, roll on the lighter days of Spring! I like the snow, for a while, but the dark days really start to grate with me by now.

Nout wrong with a bitta raw easterly wind TWS! Get yersel' doon the coast!

In all honesty- the EC output would be classic from mid Nov to mid Mar- but it'll be fun to experience different weather to now, and the cold and grey go perfect with the festive season imo.

      Captain Shortwave

Agree with you TWS, it almost for me feels like I have to endure some truly dreadful weather to appease those who want a weather scenario which is practically impossible to achieve in the first half of October

Why do Chelsea deserve it?, it must be because they have spent hundreds of millions of pounds trying to win it, because it sure wasn't the fact that they were the best team.

It's not been too mild or cold, a bit cool, but lovely recently. Fresh, sunny with some frosts and sunshine. Today was murky, humid and dull; not so nice.

    3. Eugene

      Eugene

Yeah temps weren't that mild the week before, I was active delivering that week though and in the sun it felt very mild

Would guess that after this weekend, pM and tM airstreams will alternate, some warm, some cool. Typical September fare. Wknd looks wet and cool though.

  14. 9 consecutive above average months here at Durham... imagine the reaction if there were 9 cooler ones! Acclimatised to the abnormal warmth

8 month run in hobart, august may go the other way. i defiently appreciate what you mean about being acclimatised to anomalous warmth

    3. gottolovethisweather

      gottolovethisweather

There were 13 consecutive months below average from May 2012 to May 2013 as I recall so yes anything is possible I suspect. August 2014 is looking likely to be well below average for some. I'm registering 1.5c below the 1981-2010 mean as things stand. Nothing is predictable any more if truth be told.

    4. gottolovethisweather

      gottolovethisweather

So to answer Isolated Frost, I wouldn't rule out that particular prospect but then again it may well not happen either. I think the certainty that another extreme month for one whichever reason be it rainfall, dryness, temperature is on the cards before the year is out, all IMHO. Afterall we appear to be world of weather extremes right now.

    4. NorthantsSnow

      NorthantsSnow

A leopard doesn't change its spots. The same is true of the Tories. Can't be trusted, especially at a time like this when the economic situation is so delicate. Labour can only get stronger with this shambles of a coalition in power.

Think of it as a trade-off, i.e. less snow potential on Monday but an extension of the cold spell overall.

GFS generally handles these "warm sectors" better than UKMO/ECMWF in my experience.

    4. Alex95

      Alex95

I agree with TWS - the GFS is good within 48 hours. I've noticed if you look at the snow risk maps on the chart viewer we usually get snow when the predicted snow level is 200m or below, so it can be a quick way to get an idea of how marginal the snow event will be.

  17. it appears there goes Liverpool's CL hopes (did they have any??!), henderson and carroll were big mistakes and kenny needs to realise this... dissapointment
